Attkisson: CDC Hiding Numbers of Possible Ebola Cases in US

by Pam Key21 Dec 2014488

Sunday on Fox News Channel’s “Media Buzz,” investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson said the CDC is not putting out the current information on how many potential cases of Ebola they are currently tracking in the Untied States.

Attkisson said, “I called CDC not long ago and I said how many cases are being monitored in the United States and they said 1,400. I said, ‘Where are these updates on your website? ‘ They said they’re not putting it on the web. This is public information we have a right to know and the media should not hype it, but should cover it.”

I honestly don't think we need to know every time a possible ebola case happens.  9 times out of 10 at this point, it turns out to not be ebola.  The news would be congested with "possible" cases and their negative outcomes.  If we start getting confirmation of ebola in the US, those cases should absolutely be reported. Just my two cents.

I agree.  Ebola is reportable throughout law enforcement as a Category A Bioterrorism agent (up there with anthrax, smallpox etc.), so the chance that diagnosed cases are being "hidden" is a stretch.

However, there is probably a ton of contact tracing being done right now, with returning healthcare workers who had patient contact in West Africa.  Contact tracing is appropriate.

As long as this thing keeps smoldering, there is a better than decent chance that Ebola will jump out of West Africa to other countries and continents.  When it does, we will hear about it.

That's a lot of potentially very sick people to hide. Seems extremely unlikely.
