Refugees in Liberia record seven Ebola deaths- official

The Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC) has disclosed that a total of seven refugees residing in former refugee camps and host communities in Montserrado County have succumbed to the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).LRRRC Executive Director Cllr. Abla Williams said of the total number of deaths, six were Sierra Leonean nationals, while one was a Ugandan doctor, all of whom were residents of communities that previously hosted refugee camps in Montserrado County

Liberia on Thursday discharged the only remaining confirmed Ebola patient from the Chinese Ebola Treatment Unit in the northern Monrovia suburb of Paynesville, which was held amidst pomp and pageantry.

In remarks at the colorful ceremony, the head of the Incident Management System, Assistant Health Minister Tolbert Nyenswah said Liberia has passed 12 days without any new confirmed Ebola case.

He said the patient discharged from the Chinese ETU in Paynesville, is the only remaining confirmed Ebola patient in the country.
