Actually, I am thinking of getting an ionizer/ozone generator. For my office first, since I will probably still be at work a couple of days a week and then, at home. Better the ions killing then just hepa trapping, I think.

Yes, I was considering the ones with the ozone generators and they do make some of them with UV lights that kill everthing. You might as well have the best quality of air you can if you are sheltering in place.

I have been looking at Sharper Images new "air sanitizer"
Seems like it would do a better job than just a air purifier. I have
had other air purifers and it seems like all they do is make noise and
blow the dust around. There are also purifers that you can add to your
forced air furnace with a UV light. I think home depot is carrying
them. Might be a good idea for whole house purification.

There are some private company ones on the net, too. I seem to like the big one that Brookstone carries...the specs are better than sharper images. Price is about the same, maybe a little better.

I have also noticed there is a thread here on the forum about mask that says that( in testing) ion generators greatly helped improve the performance of N95 orther mask. So on that thought their are personal ion generators that you can wear on your person ( the japanese are big on these). I wonder if these put out enough ions to help mask performance? On that topic if you are having trouble finding mask they have n95 and above at welding stores.

If you want to consider the best air purification system and portbility the go to www.aranizer.com. Their systems go behyond ozone and uv lights since ozone and uv lights also produce Oxides of nitrogen from that nitric acid is produceed.
The equipment form the aranizer company produces O4 to O15 oxygen molecules they are a higher form of allotropes of oxygen in the polyatomic range whereas ozone is in the triatomic range. It is not cheap but sharper imiage and ion systems will not cut the BF,.

suggest you try breathing in front of an ozone generator before deciding ozone is harmless... no sarcasm, honest. we had one used for killing mode after house flooded and believe me it was not something we chose to be in the basement with

there is a hepa plus filter that was used in hong kong hospitals during SARS epidemic. it is called the "IQ" and has various model numbers. Its cost starts at a thousand plus dollars but has some lower priced models.
check out ConsumerSearch.comtopics house and home then air purifiers.
also allergybuyersclub.com, and remedyfind.com (or net?) for individual's reports of their personal experiences with these products- and people's personal experiences with a variety of other things, conditions, etc- oh, airpurifiers are on allergy part of remedyfind.
Not plugging IQ just thought SARS thing interesting. Lots of other filters out there they are worth having I think if anyone has allergies, astha, COPD, or is just interested in clean indoor air.
good luck!
