Containment seems pretty decent. Might not be another Walking Dead, but not bad. I noticed the killer flu has a 100% CFR and is h7n2. I believe it's on Tuesday nights.

Did I miss that? I wanted to see it - the previews looked promising. I'll try to find it online maybe, or see if they have an encore showing.

You'll never believe it, but it aired in New Zealand on the same day as America!! Normally we're 4 or 5 years behind you guys so this is great.
I enjoyed the first episode but can't understand why, when they knew it was spread through bodily fluids and they knew it was fatal, did they send out those police officers to find the guy with only a plastic visor and some disposable gloves. I'd have thought full body suits would have been more suitable. The other thing that seemed stupid was that in the containment area, even though everyone knew it was a killer virus, they all still congregated on the streets. I'd have been holed up in my house or place of work with the doors locked and all the potential carriers securely outside. But good show and off to a promising start. It can't have been that great though as my husband napped through most of it.

I am going to watch on Xfinity reruns tonight. Sounds interesting.
Ok folks here is a question do you think that people will be as stupid as the portray on TV in programs like this. Or do you think people will be smarter than this? I think most will be this stupid. |

Ok so I watched...they are stupid they did not take enough precautions. But, OMG maybe this will be the way the beginning of an outbreak will be handled. If so we are all in really big trouble.
I believe that watching programs like this is a good idea because when TSHTF it could happen this way. It helps me decide when and which route my son take if TSHTF. He is a college student with usually no food in his apartment. I have a BOB for him. He knows to get his car and gas cans filled and throw his BOB in the back and come home how I tell him to. It scares me when I hear the ad on the radio that there are now 7 Billion people on earth and that number doubled since 1970. That is 40 years and the population has doubled. Sh^t will hit the fan one of these days and I hope my son survives and knows what to do to survive and thrive. |

I also think people will behave stupidly. But the upside of stupidity is that while the rest of the world is running around like headless chickens, we can quietly get to where we need to be and be safely out of it before the others come to their senses and cause trouble.

It's on Tuesday nights at 8pm. Here in Southern California it's on KTLA Channel 5, so apparently it will be on one of the main networks in your area and easy to find. You can usually catch the pilot episode if you missed it by using the on demand features with your cable company, or whatever it might be in your area.
It's completely right up our alley either way you slice it. A mutated h7n2 avian flu with a 100% CFR. So get the popcorn ready for Tues night. Would be hard to believe that when they make a show like this that they wouldn't research posts from the only Avian Flu site on the net, which go back a decade of course. Their research seems to be fairly on the mark. |

Dang Albert, if this is how it will go down we are in big trouble. Patient 0 is picked up by two cops without even n95 masks? And to try and block off several blocks in a city...let's face it that would not hold.
We are doomed! |

Good to know, Albert. I have KTLA 5. I'll have to look into it. Is it like Contagion or more annoying?

I actually think it's better than Contagion. In this one it seems that the first cluster of cases was with the Doctor and nurses, which made it a little more accurate.
On another note, I rented a new release DVD movie last night called The 5th Wave, and ironically, it was about an alien invasion and they were trying to eradicate humans, and so what did the aliens do? They mutated and tweaked the avian flu so it could spread among humans and kill off the population. Wasn't expecting that twist. Hi Flumom, interesting similarities in the way it all might go down. They did their homework. |

Hello Friends,
Just go to Google or Yahoo, and type in CW Channel. That will take you to their website, pick shows, and you will see the program. Or, go to : cwtv.com Pretty nice of them to archive their shows for watching after the initial airing. Hope this helps a bit. Diligent |

Oh! The 5th Wave is also a Young Adult dystopian novel too. Never read it though. Good to know the show is more accurate than that movie. I am hit and miss with CW tv shows.

Ya it is young adult. Watched the second half just now. Fell asleep half way through last night. What can I say, falling asleep is half the fun. It was a pleasant surprise to see them use the Avian Flu to wipe out humanity, in a sick sort of way.
Killer avian flu seems to be the centerpiece for horror flicks these days. I think the reason is because it's the closest doomsday scenario to becoming reality someday. On another note, when we do have an AI pandemic, there will be terror in the streets after all these shows. It will be when a horror flick or a real scary movie that becomes reality to people, especially after these movies depicting it as that. Might as well have Frankenstein walking the streets instead of that one. |

So I recorded episode 2 last night and have just watched it. I don't understand why they have a cordon around the inner city block made of mesh wire. In this episode you see a policeman talking to the people trapped inside and they are only a foot away from him. If one of them were to spit or sneeze, he'd get it in the face.
Other than small details like that, I'm really enjoying it. I did think, all the way through it, if I worked in an office, I'd definitely fill a cupboard with emergency rations just in case I got stranded there.

Says the finale will air July 19, so still several episodes left I guess but that sucks they are not giving it a chance. Any more you can't get into any of these new shows because they never make it past 1 or 2 seasons. I don't get much time to watch tv so if I invest my time in a show I enjoy it really irritates me when they are on today & gone tomorrow.

I could not agree more. Sometimes it seems that the more accurate, intelligent or original something is, the more likely it is to get cancelled.
Violence, sex and scatalogical humor (none of which I have any objection to, but which are no substitute for plot lines) seem to work the other way. I am seriously thinking of throwing my TV through the window!

I feel like most of these pandemic or disaster situation shows get chopped so quick if there are no zombies involved. Kind of like Revolution, which started out somewhat promising.

The thing I couldn't past with Revolution was how good everyone looked - clean and well groomed, with designer leather outfits. In truth, most people would probably look horrible and smell worse.

That is so true! They looked photo-shoot ready, 90% of the time. At least in The Walking Dead, sometimes they look a bit scruffy, ie Rick's Beard.

Revolution? I haven't heard of that one. I'll google it.
It's a pity about Containment. The thing is though, with that storyline, where could the story possibly go? Afterall the virus is 100% deadly, and it kills really fast, so everyone would be dead. And that's the end of it.

I can't seem to handle the Walking Dead, I'm a big fraidy cat. But I have been able to enjoy Fear The Walking Dead... I think it's on AMC? Anyway, it's really good imo. And I don't have to hide my eyes near as much as TWD.
