Latest Govt Report
• Across most jurisdictions, seasonal influenza activity appears to have peaked in recent weeks with the exception of South Australia and the Northern Territory where activity continues to rise. • As at 29 August 2014, there have been 42,354 cases of laboratory confirmed influenza reported, with 12,279 notifications occurring during the report fortnight. • Nationally influenza A is the predominant influenza virus type. Of those viruses where subtyping data are available, A(H1N1)pdm09 remains the predominant influenza virus type in most jurisdictions. In New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, influenza A(H3N2) is the most common virus type. Flu Trend |

I was reading about this just last night, rickster. There was an article talking about hospitals being swamped - looks like you guys are getting hit pretty hard. Stay healthy, buddy

Not good, Rickster. And what you guys get down there is usually the handwriting on the wall for us in the Northern Hemisphere, sounds like we are in for it soon. Best, John L.

My kids have had it recently. Symptoms include a thumping headache, stomach cramps, sore throat and a persistent phlegmy cough. Youngest son developed a full blown chest infection, the other two just got the headache and sore throat. Wife and I both got the headache but no other symptoms.

Rickster58 sounds like what is going around here in Colorado. So many sick people with sore throat, chest infection and cough with phlegm. It is what I basically have. It is taking a long time for me to get better. I hope to go back to work on Wed.

FluMom - me and my son are currently getting over some weird respiratory thing. Extremely productive cough, runny nose, upset stomach and the sore throat from hell. I managed to damp down my symptoms enough to get minor surgery last week (Shhh...), but we both still have it. I'm back to using an asthma inhaler for the first time in years. The last day that I worked, a few of my coworkers either had it or were starting to show symptoms.
Hope you feel better soon. |
