As if Iran development of missiles and nuclear bombs were not enough, now North Korea celebrates the development of long range missile capability that could hit the U.S. coast as well Russia demonstrating how to launch a satellite. Russia is overtly deploying extremely advanced jets, drones, and even advanced stealth technology. Was the North Korean launch a failure or are they one step closer to long range ICBMs with nuclear warheads. Medclinician |

Thanks Med! North Korea is one of my personal hobby-horses. Every time it develops a new weapon or weapons system the "civilized" world complains loudly, but does nothing!
My disgust at the horrors of Islam are well known, but even Daesh's people are treated better than the North Koreans, yet we still do nothing. I believe nothing will be done, until NK declares war on someone and starts firing, probably starting with South Korea. But we should intervene sooner. The longer we leave things the more weapons they will have developed, and the larger the number of the casualties that will accrue. But, that is not the reason I believe intervention is necessary. The people of NK are starving, and have been for DECADES! They are lied to on a massive scale: all governments use some propaganda but in NK it is EVERYTHING! They are denied any free speech and everyone spies on everyone else. This is simply the most oppressive government on the face of the Earth. Yet we sit on our hands and do NOTHING! On another current thread Original Happy Camper is posting God's word, which I believe contained the line: "...And love your neighbour like yourself." I would fight to prevent someone treating my pet dog half as bad as the "civilized" world's neighbour treats its people. The instructions to my bretheren are almost identical. Well, SHAME ON US!

North Korea is preparing for its fifth nuclear test, the South's intelligence services have said, as cited by Yonhap agency. The news come hours after Pyongyang claimed it had successfully put an earth observation satellite into orbit. South Korean officials say parts of the long-range rocket launched earlier by North Korea were likely received from Russia, TASS reported. North Korea manufactured everything, but important parts were probably received from Russia. |

North Korea only exist because China enables it to exist. Russia (and a few other countries) do trade with N.Korea. South Korea has several economic zones in N.Korea were North Koreans work for S. Korean firms.
It would be a good thingh when "Korea" could become a sort of Finland-like neutral country between Japan (Korea in the 20th century was long time colonized by Japan, Koreans treated as second class people) China and Russia. The only way to reach that would be negotiations between the countries involved (including the US). North Korea is one of the most corrupt nations, human rights and free press do not exist there. This country is the product of a history of insanity. Only international diplomatic action can make a change. The western regime-change adventures in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan etc. did bring chaos in place of dictators. The west only can change things in coordination with Russia, China (and other BRICS-countries).

This looking a lot worse. This was clearly and ICBM test and no doubt this rocket could be used to carry a nuclear warhead.

According to superstation : https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/867
If such a device were to be detonated in space, 300 miles above the USA, none of the blast wave or radiation would be felt in the U.S.A. What _would_ affect the USA would be the severe electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) given off by the blast. If a detonation were to take place in space, 300 miles over the state of Kansas, the Electro-Magnetic-Pulse (EMP) from the blast would be enough to instantly destroy all electronic devices and the entire power grid of the United States! The entire nation, as well as most of Canada and almost all of Mexico, would be instantly hurled back to the stone age, with no electricity and no modern technology; all of it would be ruined. The trajectory of the new North Korean satellite brings it DIRECTLY over Kansas; the optimum location to deliver a single, crushing blow to the entire USA. The yellow line on the satellite tracking map below shows the path the satellite will take just hours from now:

Dutch Josh (and anyone else who thinks the Americans would be blown back to the stone age by an EMP) The power grid, and those things which depend upon it, would be temporarily messed up, but the military stuff is shielded (as is much of the preppers' stuff). Stoneage man would be left well behind because we did not have electricity until the 1850s so that is the worst senario for how far back they are driven - plus a little extra time for re-learning old skills and doing some antique repairs.
One thought gives me great pleasure (may I be forgiven by the Goddess for saying it) is that: very shortly after such an attack the cockroach-from-hell, (Oops! That is a correct translation of Kim Jong Oon isn't it?) would be a cloud of radioactive dust heading away from the surface of this beautiful planet at high speed with his stupid/selfish generals and hopefully not too many of his poor, brainwashed, half-starved, mentally crippled subjects. I apologise to the CIA, FBI and Homeland Security, but I know for a fact, because seeing is believing, that the USA has massive, high speed, nigh on invisible aircraft and also has the Thor system at its disposal, if it continued to send them up there. So I personally am not at all worried that some jumped up,m tin pot dictator is going to be stupid enough to take them on. Russia, China (and maybe the rest of the world) could not do that, all working together.

This is so true. We were on the phone late one night calculating the idea position for and EMP blast which would take out at least most of the East Coast. Despite our defenses we still must tolerate satellites passing over our "airspace" and in addition to this launch, within hours the Russians put one themselves into orbit. There is a lot of scrambling going on there in the upper atmosphere and beyond. We are beyond addicted and dependent on the Internet and the Power Grid. The difference is once we had leadership and world respect so that John F. Kennedy had the ..... enough to brink us to the brink of a nuclear war over Russian missiles being taken to Cuba. A nuclear armed satellite in our air space is much worse than any missile parked on Cuban soil. Many countries in the world are mobilizing their military. We need to do the same. If we can get off of the debates on Hilary's mail versus America's current bad foreign policy which is about to end up in a war in Syria, - we might be a lot better off. Medclinician |
