   My daughter is hoping to be able to drive (with her dog) from LA to 

mountains of northern WA state, where we are well supplied. My 

suggestions were to have in the car all food and water needed for her and 

her dog  during the trip. Only stops then would be for sleep (sleep in 

car...necessary to find safe place (suggestions?), Some kind of bathroom 

facility rigged up for her, walk the dog in areas carefully chosen to avoid 

people, bird poop, etc., and use rubber gloves and mask. When getting 

gas have rubber gloves and P95 Triosyn T-3000� face respirators, 

perhaps goggles, pay by credit card and use waterless hand sanitizer 

after disposing of gloves and mask (put these into plastic bag, leave by 

roadside with warning on the bag???) (leave in car, sealed in plastic bag?)

What have we forgotten? Road closures are so risky (perhaps some 

alternate routes that would avoid major highways if necessary.) Knowing 

when to leave (early rather than later), but as a public school teacher that 

is very tricky. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. Better to 

sleep in the day and travel at night? Keep windows closed at all times? Air 

conditioning?

	pepper spray you can find portable potty bags at home health medical websites and camping wesites. use them once , then throw them away. I've seen them, but have forgotten which websites they were on. sorry a box of odor-shield trash bags in case there isn't anywhere safe she can get out and throw stuff away. a plastic rubbermaid-like container to put in her trunk to put these trashbags in. so she won't have to smell any of it. sleeping places- hospital parking lots (in the back), school parking lots, 24hr store/pharmacy parking lots. I know there will be people at all of these places, but there will also be lots of lighting and usually some kind of security. plus, emergency blankets just in case it's really cold in some areas. these blankets will protect her from hypothermia can opener, you can also buy portable dog-food rations at survival/emergency websites. this way she won't have to carry dog bowls. flashlights/extra batteries i would keep windows closed at night. and circlulate the air for heating and airconditioning through the car instead of having it come from the outside. most cars have this feature by their heating/airconditioning controls.

	If she is travelling during the pandemic..I would suggest she try not to leave her car unless absoulutly neccesary lol..i hit the button and i was not done... ok..I have several gerry cans that will be filled with gas for a long drive...she does not want to be touching pumps if possible and gas stations might be closed...yes food and water for the trip...a bucket for washroom times..(not sure what to suggest for the dog)..we just got back from a 7 hour drive and took our kitten,but she used a small litter box in the car... have an alternate plan..for all those just in cases:...cars running out of gas and no way to get around them as Rita did when people where trying to leave.. base her travels on past experiences..get out as fast as she can ..to avoid any unneccesary things..better to be safe then sorry.. 	I would suggest she pays cash instead of using her credit card. People will be more inclined to accept cash, because they can use it themselves immediately. Also, your daughter would have to take her card back after someone else has touched and handled it..... Marjo

	Great thinking Marjo, I had not even considered that about the credit card (having to take it back after someone touched it).
