Look it does not matter if you live in a state that is affected. It will be a burden on all in the U.S. if Zika is not controlled or stopped by a vaccine. The taxpayer is responsible for the education of all children including children who are affected by macrocephaly. That means huge tax dollars it will be cheaper for the CDC to find a vaccine for Zika than to educated these children.
Now when I say educate these children I mean baby sitting these children from Kindergarten to High School graduation. I know of a child that could barely communicate but went through High School graduation which meant the taxpayer paid for a person to take care of her in the classroom which meant changing her diaper, feeding her through a tube, a person to do physical therapy several times a week, and many more services. I don't think many of you understand that this is what happens in our schools and that these children unless violent are in regular classrooms and it is very expensive. I have no problem with this but if we have thousands of these children it will break the education system. Zika must be eradicated! |

Spot on, FluMom!
There is an underlying problem which drives the financial discrepancies. The CDC is looking for a vaccine, other wings of the government pay for the pointless "Education". The CDC probably thinks itself immune from the education costs, so there is less urgency to pay for vaccine trials, which are very expensive. Yet, your point is both valid and accurate, FluMom. I can attest to this as the mother of a severely disabled son, who went through 14 years of education, of which less than 1 year had any effect. So, what to do? Perhaps higher echelons of Government need to, at least help, fund the search for a vaccine. As you so eruditely point out, it is both cheaper and kinder in the long run.
