Miss RX_Lauric acid has shown in research to lessen viral load. According to some studies from the 90's it showed promising results with HIV patients.( as in reducing viral loads)

Hmmm. That looks promising with H5N1. At least better to have it probably than not.
Any ideas on dosage for someone who is sick with influenza? I'd like to have this stuff around even for normal influenza! |

I have Nature's Way Coconut oil. But the best think I've used for normal influenza is Sambucol. (I know, I know... concerns about using it with bird flu...) But it does work great on normal influenza. Look in your health food store.

Since I am not a medical doctor, I will not be able to recommend any dosages etc, however as anatural health practitioner, I can tell you that analysis in the components of coconuts, fresh coconuts >contain lauric acid, since coconut is a nut/fruit> Ibelieve the only thing thing it might do in excess consumption or reaction to consuming coconuts > an upset stomach. To the best of my knowledge I have never heard of anyone dying from consuming coconuts. lauricidin is a pill-form derivative of the same thing, feel free to check on lauricidin or fresh coconut meat and its properties. Let me know if I could be of further help.

IMO 100%organic, pure pressed will be the best, I have purchased mine in health food stores and I also bought fresh coconuts, cracked them and freeze the meat for later consumption.

I've found some on http://www.herbalremedies.com. I've never had any problems with ordering stuff from them yet, and I've used them for a few times now. The main reason I use them is they are willing to ship priority mail, among other things. Getting UPS or FedEx packages are a major hassle for me.

Is the coconut oil mentioned within the thread the same as something like Spectrum Coconut Oil from Whole Foods? I ask because I make soap, and keep a variety of oils on hand. TIA
