What do you think will be worth the most in a Pandemic? Will money matter ? Or will it be something else to barter with?

It's all situational of course, depending on circumstances, but my general hierarchy balancing needs/perceptions/desires: 1) Weapons or ammo- without them you can't keep what you have if somebody else wants it - though the liklihood of actually needing/using them is low. Obviously optional based on your philosophy - BUT, they are the Trump Card of all Trump Cards when push comes to shove. Priceless. If you have them, you will not probably never barter this unless you are in dire need and, you may find others that will give almost anything for them. (I don't own any) 2) Medicine - if you or somebody else gets sick - you might find that you will not ever give this away and may give anything for it. Line 1 trumps. If you have an abundance, or bought extra specifically for the purpose of being able to supply others - this is the most valuable thing you have that you may actually barter. 3) Food + Water - bartering may occur. - subject to line one. Line 1 and 2 trumps. 4) Power - You can charge other peoples items, pump water to faciitate barter on line 3. 5) Communications - what's going on out there? Nice to know but not above lines 1,2,3 and 4. And LAST, MONEY - which, for the person that already has Lines 1-5 in place, can be accepted gladly in place of barter as long as lines 1-5 are plentiful. Afterall - if you don't need any of 1-5, money is the way to go. After all this is over, and you are still alive, that money will still be good and you can pay yourself back for all your expenses for having prepped up. The Best Part? Everybody you helped out that you bartered money for items 2-5 will thank you afterward for helping them out and not begrudge your having paid yourself back. (Assuming you didn't gouge them). Just my thoughts. |

Barter will be important Food will be first most stores sell out without trucks rolling 24/7 Masks will be in demand also, which will be sold out. Guns/Ammo will be highly sought after. Double edged sword here. Give ammo to someone and they now have ammo to get more stuff, maybe from you. After a quaritine will water/power plant employess show up? Fuel and generators will be priceless then. So, if we all stock up now or already have, we have less to worry about when it gets worse.
There is NO downside to prepping. |

I think N95 masks will be valueable barter material. Only 2 factories in North America make them and they are running at capacity. That is why there is a N95 reuse project underway. The mask is your best protection. You won't be able to beg borrow or steal one in a worst case scenario. Make sure you get the ones for surgical use and not for construction. |

Ask Albert! He says toilet paper! Has the corner on the market on it!..But seriously I think food. My hubby and I are also trying our best to get things that we think will be necessary, like batteries etc. God this is getting pretty hairy now! Meewee |

I have an asset that is priceless. I am a healer and am fully stocked up with whateverwill be required.. I can barter my skills. Mind you I can see that in most cases I will never get paid or recompensed in any way. By the way if you are laughing dont. There is more in heaven and earth than man can ever dream of. Anybody that wants info on health or medical supplies please answer this post.

I think bartering will become the norm for a while since money will be totally useless...can't eat, drink or smoke it. Well, I DO know some people who would try to smoke just about anything but that's another story! LOL IMO food will be the top bartering item where I am. I live in a residential family area and I don't think ammo will be #1 but hey, when TSHTF it may be. I think water and then medical stuff including masks. BYW, I did not realize there was a difference between N95 masks. Mine are by 3M with that cool ventilator thing. Did I buy the wrong ones? |

I say Water. You can live a long time with little or no food and there are things that you can eat that you wouldn't normally. But you have to have water. Clean water and lots of it.
