For the phyisically disabled,,,, bring esseential medical supplies and extras, bring a manual wheelchair with you... bring lots of ectra comfort items and keep them warm and dry.. Allow them to bring pets and toys...
elderly persons will need all of the above and more.... pictures and family heirlooms are especially important to older citizens.. assurances that things will be ok. bring legal papers with you. Wills and bank accounts and checkbooks are very important..

Elders will have multiple needs. You have to think about continent supplies, eating issues (dentures might require soft foods) and then there is the ability to bath oneself and transfer from bed to wheelchair to toliet etc. Elders are very sensitive to temperature also. They usually don't have a hearty appetite so make sure you keep health shakes handy packed with vitamins and nutrients. If your elder is compromised with any activity of daily living (ambulating, tolieting, bathing etc.) then you need to prepare your home now by making it handicapped accessible. There are lots of equipment that can make caring for an elder easy such as shower chairs, wheelchairs, walkers, hand bars by toliets and showers, bed side commodes, adult diapers etc. Don't forget the medicine also. Make a list of all medications with dosage and keep in a plastic baggy. Be sure to keep any living wills or advance directives in a safe place also.
