Purchased Gold Metal flour in 5 lb. bags on sale this week $1.69 ea. Saved a bunch of money. I decided that since I have a Foodsaver I could easily vacuum pack the 5 lb. bags. Bags are then packed into Vittles Vaults. Only vacuum pack prepacked 5 lb bags of flour because loose flour will mess up your vacuum packer.

Vittles Vaults are approved for human food, I checked. But all my food is packaged first so it does not touch the plastic. The Vittles Vaults keep your preps like flour, sugar, rice, beans, pasta safe from mice, external bugs, and moisture.

I purchased my vaults from U.S. Plastics. They are not cheap but they are worth it.

Also purchased cans of corn, pinto beans and green beans on sale at 4O cents each.

Look for the sales every week in the local papers and we have grocery store ads delivered to us at our house every week.

You can prep at a cheap price. My suggestion is that you only purchaes food that you will use regularly so you can rotate all your food and keep it fresh. If you don't eat it now you will not want to eat it during the BF.

I am also buying items on sale, I stocked up on sugar this week at $1.34 for a 4 lb. bag. I got several bags. I haven't seen any flour on sale lately though. I usually put my bags in the freezer for a couple of days to kill any weevil eggs that might possibly be in there so they don't hatch at a later date. I have been really stocking up on sale items!

I've been storing flour for quite awhile.  I always put bay leaves in the containers.  Keeps buts away.
