An sks and a mak 90 are two different weapons. The mak90 is actually an AK system, while the sks is it's own system all together. The sks many times has an attached ten round magazine until modified. The Mak90 will take regular ak magazines. Typically the Mak90's are pretty good quality with a relatively good AK trigger.my only complaint is the thumbhole stock is uncomfortable and the front sight is hooded. Both these can be easily rectified on the cheap. If you can find one for a good deal it'll never fail you.

Norein, I don't think she actually said that. She may be a liar, purposely deceptive, a hypocrite, and scum, but I highl doubt she actually said that. I'll do some research...

Yup, it's a bogus quote. Go to the very pro gun website "guncite" and look up bogus statements attributed to Sarah Brady. Furthermore, both Sarah and Jim are hardline Republicans in every aspect other than gun control, she would never say that first and foremost, and even if she did believe that do you actually think she'd be stupid enough to say it out loud?

Danny, is your SKS a fixed or removable magazine type? The Norinco SKS is by far the best SKS ever made. Be EXTREMELY careful about listening to Cole's advise though, putting a pistol grip and stock on there without the proper number of US made parts *IS* a Federal offense and can land your ass in jail for 20 years. If you want to put the pistol grip on there you can replace the trigger pack, piston, safety selector and front/rear sight. That should be enough.

Turboguy I like them as they are, never cared much for pistol grips .They both have a removalable magazine.I do have a bit of a problem getting the 30 rnd magazine in with the Norinco, the 10 rnd magazines are no problem at all.The Mak-90 is GREAT ,I like it better then my Mini-14.Thanks for your inputThumbs%20Up

There is a modification out there that will allow you to use standard AK magazines in your SKS. You might want to look into it. I personally wouldn't do it as you'd have to drill and tap a hole in the underside of the barrel right where you have to stick that weird thing that sticks out on the front of the magazine. I'll just assume you know what I'm describing.

The SKS I wouldn't put a pistol grip on. They're not designed for it. There are some nifty Dragunov stocks for SKS's, but if you wanted to do that just buy yourself another Polish SKS for right around $120 and put it on there. Keep that Norinco original. You've probably already noticed how much more accurate your SKS is than that AK too. Better trigger and longer sight radius pays off. My only real complaint with the SKS is the exposed action, but this can be a bonus if you get a stuck case. You'll be able to pull it out with a screwdriver. Stuck cases will happen occasionally with that gun too, the extractor is a tad wimpy and will strip off the little lip on the shell if you start using brass cased ammo. Just keep a small standard with you and you'll never have a problem.

I do greatly dislike the thumbhole stock on the Mak90 though. You must have long fingers and a thumb set back on your hand a bit. For me that stock is a little sharp on the webbing of my thumb and annoys me. I do very much like the trigger on those guns though. It's up there with the best I've ever used on an AK system, it's just getting my finger on it properly that irks me. I might be a little jaded though, I just down right don't like thumbhole stocks.

If you can, get your grubby hands on some of those Bulgarian waffle pattern AK Magazines. You will definately love them. The regular metal ones are tough in the extreme, but they'll get screwed up if you bend them. I screwed one up by acidentally stepping on the side and it never loaded reliably again. The Bulgarian ones are more resilient to weight on them.
