You mean to tell me that the champion of the Left, He-Who-Brings-The-Light, Zer0, the guy that said he'd NEVER do such a thing, DID SUCH A THING!?!
Color me surprised.
Funny thing is those 99%er retards will still pile into the booths in droves to vote for the idiot. Not that anyone else on the ticket, excepting Ron Paul, is any better, but I find it humorous that the guy who said he'd restore Constitutional rights lost further eroded Constitutional rights.

Who exactly do you think wrote the thing and then added it to a military spending bill creating urgency to sign??

The bottom line is that he didn't have to sign it, didn't matter who wrote it!

John McCain and the Republicans. But to accuse John McCain of being a conservative is like calling Carl Marx conservative too.
But it's exactly against everything Obama says, and said he was against. Hence the reason I maintain that both sides are playing for the wrong team. (Not the people's)

Mahshadin, the only reason I'm a registered republican Is so I can cast my vote for Ron Paul. If Ron Paul had a D behind his name, I would have been a registered democrat in 2008! So, if those sneaky republicans sneaked language into the Military Spending Bill pertaining to abortion, you don't think we would have vetoed those sections out? Your just upset because Obama has shown his true colors, not really that much different than Bush.

Why? That's what I keep asking myself. The only thing I can come up with is that they are expecting a complete collapse & they want to be able to detain anyone & everyone who becomes a problem.
Every single person in Congress who voted for this needs to be removed!
Look up your local scumbags here.

MR I am not defending anyone, I am simply saying any attempt to make this a partisan issue is wrong and just NOT TRUTHFUL. This is Fear based legislation as was the Patriot Act. We have all been trained to be very very afraid of a handful of terrorists here and there (Which Will Never End). Its a joke but a very well played joke and it has slowly taken the rights away from the people of this Country. I remember when I brought this up on the Patriot Act what I got from this Board was (What Do You Have To Hide). But now somehow there is outrage. This is a product of fear nothing more and not recognising this will end up costing us more freedoms we once had. No good legislation is born out of fear (EVER). The fact that they had to try and hide this in a military spending bill which if vetoed would have caused an even bigger partisan attack should tell you somthing. And it wasnt just republicans hiding this fascist legislation it was both Republican and Democrats and hiding behind Ron Paul is just an excuse to pretend your doing somthing about it. Ron Paul has not ever accomplished one thing in his long public career, not one piece of legislation. Dont you find that just a little concerning, talk about getting nothing nfor your vote (He is the definition of this). But he keeps the fringe in line and marches them to the voting both like zombies every four years so I guess he is doing his job well for the Republican Establishment. Recognising this ios a much bigger problem than just the one was the point of my post!!!!!!!!!!! House of Representatives Vote NDAA 283 Yes (Aye) 93 Democrats 190 Republicans 136 No 93 Democrats 43 Republicans Not Voting 14 ________________________________________________ US Senate Vote NDAA 86 Yes (Yea) 45 Democrats 40 Republicans 1 Independant 13 No (Nay) 6 Democarats 6 Republicans 1 Independant Not Voting 1 If you really wanna place blame look a little deaper. Are you willing to flush your own? Or are you a Zombie Voter?

If the Republicans had done so, I'd turn Democrat for life. I wouldn't put it past the Santorum brand of "Republican" to try some stupid crap like that.
The day, and I mean the *DAY* they start trying to overturn Roe Vs. Wade will be the day I vote a straight Democrat ticket. The government has absolutely no business deciding what people do with their bodies. When you give the government the ability to say you can't have an abortion, you've opened the door for them to tell you that you must as you've given them jurisdiction over our very bodies.
Always beware of unintended consequences. Your guy isn't going to be President forever and change happens. The other guys may very well use your crazy crap against you.
Obama howled that he'd strike down the Patriot act, then uses it to spy on the very Americans that were all for it when it passed. (In reality it just codified case law and gave Law enforcement nothing they didn't already have)
Imagine how remiss the Democrats would be if the Republicans were able to outlaw Abortion using Obamacare because it's not technically "Good" for a woman and could render sterile.
How fast would the Dems be trying to remove that aberrant legislation were that to come to pass?

Turboguy, the point I was trying to make was if the republicans tried to slip language into the NDAA that Obama was fundamentaly against he would have done one of two things, vetoed those sections out of the bill, or not have signed it. I just used abortion as an example. After using the abortion example, I realized that could be used as dirt to divert attention away from the main point of Obama signing the bill. In retrospect I should have used the Keystone Pipeline as an example. When you think about it, abortion benefits the republican party by reducing the number of potential democratic voters in the future. Now here I go straying off the topic a hand.
Why democrat, and not independent or libertarian? I would think those two parties would be more concerned about personal freedoms and liberties. This two party system has sold us down the river by fighting it out on screen, but slapping each other on the back behind closed doors, and running to the bank with money from Super PACs! |

MR There is no line item veto for the president, this presidential power was revoked by the supreme court in 1998 claiming overreaching presidential power. your argument of an easy way out is just not reality The last president to have this power was clinton, which coincidently was the last time we had a balanced budget Bush tried to reinstate it but failed as has Obama without success. Congress doesnt want it |

Clinton had nothing to do with the balanced budget. You can thank Gingrich for that. In fact you should state that the budget was balanced IN SPITE of President Clinton. Presidents do not make budgets, they make recommendations and the 1994 conservative sweep ensured that Clinton would be regarded as a great president when he wasn't. For his last four years he got zero of the Liberal agenda done and quite a lot of the Right's. Congress hasn't passed a damn budget in what's it been, three years now!?! It's about time for these idiots to start working together or get out. Obama should have vetoed the entire bill until they sent him clean bills sans NDAA, but they'd never do that as he wants it just as much as those on the far right. |

Here's how I connect the dots.
1) A few years ago there was a secret meeting of Congress in which it was said that our economy was going to collapse & there would be rioting in the streets.
2) FEMA Dentention Camps (REX84) have been built & are now being staffed.
3) Ben Bernanke gave a speech to the Economic Forum in Washington D.C. in 2002 & said there were 5 things he would do to prevent another great depression. He's done all 5 of them except the last, which is to devalue the dollar by 40%.
4) Our debt is actually worse than Greece's & is mathematically unsustainable, so a devaluation is on the horizon. See usdebtclock.org & look at the unfunded liabilities as well as the derivatives.
I believe they passed the NDAA Act because they know our currency will collapse & they want the ability to lock people up in order to restore order. Our prisons are full and our court system wouldn't be able to handle the case load in the event of societal breakdown.
Will this law be abused? Of course it will. Will our rights be restored after the dust settles? Probably not. This is not the same country I grew up in & I cannot imagine what life will be like in 10 years.
This is all very depressing.

Ok so they devalue the dollar what happens? We are all basically worth the same money because a person who has a Million in the bank would have 600K the guy that had 10K in the bank would have 6K. It is all proportional.
Would food, rent and gas get cheaper? I don't understand what happens when they devalue the dollar!! |

All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.
Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude. No protracted war can fail to endanger the freedom of a democratic country. When the past no longer illuminates the future, the spirit walks in darkness. Alexis de Tocqueville |

It looks like there is slick little trick brewing in Congress. Supporters of locking people up without charge or trial are getting ready to play yet another trick on the American people.

Maybe once Obama is out of office, then the next president can take Obama away at 4:00 AM and lock him up indefinitely and not tell him what the charges are.
How's that for retribution!

Call the Obama and Romney campaign, and ask if their candidate acknowledges due-process as a basic human right. If they acknowledge that it is, ask them to explain Section 1021, of the National Defense Authorization Act, where an American citizen can be detained indefinitely without charge, jury or trial.

Perhaps there is a slight amount of justice left in this country.
OOPS! I shouldn't have said that. I might be arrested in the middle of the night under suspicion of being a terrorist!
Gee, if anyone makes any reference to free speech or the constitution they're also considered possible terrorists. Wouldn't it just be easier to try and label the 1% of American's as non-terrorists instead?
Has common sense and decency gone completely out the window? What is happening? This is not the same country that I grew up in, that's for sure. Our government is PARANOID!
