A weather radio is a good thing to have also. We are in the start of tornado season here in OK, in fact tomorrow we're due for tornado weather.

I got some two-way walkie-talkies for short distance communication between my s.o. and myself. That reminds me, I need more AAA batteries for the walkie-talkies. I also have a solar/crank weather-band radio/flashlight. It also charges cellphones, just like my crank flashlight. Ham radios seem neat, but you need a licence for that right?

A radio and plenty of batteries might be a good thing to have on hand in case of a loss of power. Back in the old days of prepping, I remember that ham radios were a fairly hot item.
