Good find, Coyote. Sounds like they'll know test results soon, "The governor said his office "may know" the results on the test prior to the 2 p.m." (Eastern time, I presume)

If it turns out positive, it would be unfortunate - the students had planned to sequester themselves for 21 days upon their return from Liberia. After the doctors AND the CDC reviewed their situation, they both advised the two students it wasn't necessary to sequester.

I am a long time reader who just registered, I posted the above comment and then decided to finally join the board. I usually wont have much to add but my wife knows someone who works at the hospital in question and they were quietly told the result was positive. Fingers crossed the info is not accurate.

Currently watching the live press conference. Patient is still under evaluation and some of his contacts are now placed in quarantine.

They keep emphasizing that they are ready to prepare for the next steps and notify CDC but there is NO confirmed case YET.

Gov says the state needs to go "above and beyond" CDC protocols if there is a confirmed case.

Wants every hospital to perform a drill within the next week preferably within the next 48 hours.

Wow, I did not even consider the classes. I was focused on wether it was positive or not. College kids intermingle a lot.

Welcome FrequentFlyer, I'm a long timer lurker and newly registered person too.   There's just too much going on to stay quiet, isn't there?

I certainly hope your source is wrong - but they may likely be right. If their press conference was full of "nothing" then they might be stalling.    I hope we're wrong, I really feel badly for the student.

Not seeing anything online yet. Test results are due any time though.

That's good news - am relieved to hear.

I was wondering - has anyone read what the % of False Negative is on the preliminary first test?

Also, I'm not sure I fully understand the testing of a "potential case" process... seems they have two tests, a few days apart. How does this work and why do they do it this way? Is one test more rigorous? Or is it they want more time between the two tests?

You may be right - initial tests have come back wrong before.
