To Albert and the Moderators:  I have read the FAQ's and have looked elsewhere, but can't find this answer.

I can not figure out how to post an ACTIVE link (the one that is yellow and that you can click on).  I use the "hyperlink inserting tool", but my links still end up as regular text.  One would have to "copy & paste" the link into a new browser to read the article that I have referenced.

I have tried messing about with the "active link" inserting tool to find a solution, but with no luck so far.  What am I doing wrong?  I notice that "unactive" links happens to a lot of other people posting on this forum too, so I must not be the only one getting this wrong.

Could "how to post an active link" be added to the FAQ's?

Thank you,
bob

bob- I had this same problem but only when using Quick Reply. Try using the Reply on a post (upper right hand corner with blue arrow) and see if that works.

When you insert the address into the hyperlink box, try erasing the "http://" part at the beginning as it's already included (or https://). I used to have problems but that seemed to fix it. That said, nothing I do ever allows me to post working hyperlinks from my tablet.

Arirish is right - depending how you reply pulls up different boxes for hyperlinks.

Method 1,

This works in all the awkward tablets i-phones, kindles etc..

Copy the link.

Type:    [ U R L ]   now paste the link in here  [ / U R L ]                  Do not use any spaces,  I used them to avoid "now paste the link" being used as a link in this post.

Method 2, Copy the link.

Click on the "world with glasses" icon.  (If it fails to show it may be hiding behind the current page.)

Insert/paste link into box between "http://"   and   "preview" boxes and click "ok".  This is the shortcut but if it fails the other way may still work.

Don't be fooled.  Hachiban taught me how to do the link.  My daughter uploaded my avatar for me.  My stepson defrags my computer (occasionally).  I can't tell a ram from a rom.

Thank you all for your answers.  Maybe all of these answers could be added to the FAQ section in "How to post an active link"?

Not entirely sure why it's so difficult to insert a link, but I'll look around a little more.  I believe it has to do with the spam controls and blocking spammers, but we will try to figure it out.

Albert- It may not be anything at all. I don't know how old bob is but some of us are old enough to remember setting around the wireless. We're just not good at the internets thing!

Yes I arirish is right... contrary to what we'd like to believe most errors are human.

Techno method #1 is a winner!!  Thanks.  My only trouble ever comes when I'm on my ipad.  So I will use this method from now on.

I also cannot use the bold, italic, color etc features on my ipad.  It just never works.  So if I wanted to bold something could I put those brackets around what I want bold & use the word BOLD instead of URL, would this work?
