(IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, an official newspaper revealed, that
two Ebola cases and 26 AIDS cases have been reported and registered in
Mosul.
The Iraqi official newspaper ‘Al-Sabah’ said in its today’s issue,
“Many diseases and epidemics have spread among residents of the city of
Mosul,” and added, “Two Ebola and 26 HIV AIDS cases were registered.”
The newspaper quoted medical sources in the city,”These diseases
moved to Nineveh by terrorists and expats from different countries,
especially Africa.”
On November 23, 2014, the Parliamentary Committee of Health and
Environment warned from the entry of the Ebola into Iraq by the Islamic
State (IS), while confirming that the Commission had taken the necessary
measures to prevent the entry and spread of this disease in the
country.
On November 21, 2014, the United Nations Security Council
expressed its grave concern about the Ebola outbreak on an unprecedented
scale in Africa, which poses a threat to the international peace and
security, at a time when the World Health Organization
announced the rise of Ebola victims to more than 6000.
Shafaq News / A medical source in Mosul hospital revealed diagnosing the infection with Ebola virus of elements belonging to ISIS.
The Ebola virus (EVD) or Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) is a human diseases that occur due to infection with the virus.
The symptoms usually begin to appear after two days to three weeks of
HIV infection, represented by fever, sore throat, muscle aches and
headache. Usually followed by nausea, vomiting , diarrhea, accompanying
with decline in liver function and kidney. Some people begin with
exposure to the problems of bleeding at this stage.
There are four places can be distinguished by Ebola virus which are
south of Sudan, Zaire, Gabon and Ivory Coast. fever spread in these
areas. And about 50% to 90% of patients of Ebola fever die.
The source, who asked not to be identified told “Shafaq News", that
“the cases were recorded on foreign fighters of African descent.
The medical source warned from the spread of the disease within the city of Mosul and its transmission to other Iraqi cities.
The World Health Organization announced that the number of patients
infected with the Ebola is 16 thousand people, and the death toll from
the epidemic is approaching seven thousand people.
None of this is confirmed as of yet, but we might as well start point fingers early at Isis.
ISIS is plotting online to kill Western civilians with EBOLA and poisoned needles, Spanish security chief warns
ISIS is
urging supporters in the West to kill civilians by any means possible -
including using Ebola as a chemical weapon and stabbing people with
poisoned needles, a senior Spanish politician claims.
Francisco
Martinez, Spain's state secretary for security, said he is taking the
threats seriously after uncovering conversations in which jihadis
discuss carrying out so-called 'lone wolf' attacks.
Speaking
before lawmakers in parliament yesterday, Mr Martinez said would-be
militants are using chat rooms to explore the best ways to carry out
terror attacks, adding that the conversations prove ISIS considers the
internet to be 'an extension of the battlefield'.
Comment: Why stab with needles to spread it when you can just simply infect a few of your own to do it. Allah wouldn't have it any other way. Maybe they finally figured it out.
Thanks, Albert! We all speculated about this for a while, we'll keep our powder dry and see what happens.
Bioterror agents have a habit of reaching backwards and biting the perpetrators, so we can only hope....
Another article on the topic, below. ..... I saw someone's question on another site about the testing sophistication in Mosul - would they even have the test/equipment to test for Ebola?
English translation: Rome , December 31 ( askanews ) - The Ebola also affects men of the " Caliph " Abu Bakr al -Baghdadi . Three jihadists of the Islamic State ( Isis ) would contract the Ebola virus in the Iraqi city of Mosul . The news came this morning from the capital of Nineveh province , a stronghold of the Caliphate black , through a local doctor quoted by the pan-Arab daily " Al Quds al Arabi " .
" In hospitals al Salam and Jamhoury Mosul were recorded three cases of infection with Ebola virus ," said the doctor Akram Mahmoud , adding that " all three elements are infected Isis " .
The same doctor has therefore launched an appeal : " We warn all the inhabitants of Mosul by the spread of infections throughout a city ."
Reports that Islamic State militants in Mosul have contracted Ebola
swirled though Iraqi media sources on Wednesday. World Health
Organization officials said they haven't confirmed the cases, but the
organization has reached out to offer assistance.
Three outlets reported that Ebola showed up at a hospital in Mosul, a
city 250 miles north of Baghdad that's been under ISIS control since
June 2014. The reports, however, have perpetuated mostly in
pro-government and Kurdish media.
"We have no official notification from [the Iraqi government] that it is Ebola,"
"We have no official notification from [the Iraqi government] that it is Ebola," Christy Feig, WHO's director of communications told Mashable.
Feig added that WHO is in the process of reaching out to government
officials in Iraq to see if they need help investigating the cases, a
task that could be a challenge, given the restrictions that would come
with operating in ISIS-controlled territory.
It's unclear if any disease experts or doctors in Mosul are even able
to test for the Ebola virus. A Kurdish official, who was convinced the
cases are Ebola, told the Kurdish media outlet Xendan that the
militants' symptoms were similar to those of the Ebola virus.
However, Ebola symptoms — nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, bleeding and
bruising — are also similar to those associated with a number of other
diseases, including malaria, Lassa fever, yellow fever viruses and the
Marburg virus. Also, most confirmed Ebola cases in this recent outbreak
have originated in West Africa.
Citing an unnamed source in a Mosul hospital, Iraq's official pro-government newspaper, al Sabaah, said the disease arrived in Mosul from "terrorists" who came "from several countries" and Africa.
While ISIS has recruited foreign fighters, very few of them — if any at all — are believed to have traveled from West Africa.
While ISIS has recruited foreign fighters, very few of them — if any at all — are believed to have traveled from West Africa.
The majority of the Islamic State's African fighters came from Tunisia, according to a Washington Post report. Others came from Morocco, Libya, Egypt, Algeria, Sudan and Somalia — none of which reported any Ebola cases in 2014.
If the cases in Mosul turn out to be Ebola — a scenario that, at this
point, seems highly unlikely — it would mark the first time the virus
had been detected in an area controlled by ISIS, a group that doesn't
embrace science and modern medicine.
Over the past few weeks, militants affiliated with ISIS have executed more than a dozen doctors
in Mosul, according to Benjamin T. Decker, an intelligence analyst with
the Levantine Group, a Middle East-based geopolitical risk and research
consultancy.
"U.N. workers have thus far been prohibited from entering
ISIS-controlled territory in both Iraq and Syria," Decker, who
specializes in Iraq, told Mashable.
"In this context," he said, "the lack of medical infrastructure,
supplies and practitioners in the city suggests that the outbreak could
quickly lead to further infection of both ISIS fighters and residents of
Mosul."
I'm looking at these reports skeptically....the "AIDS" diagnosis is particularly telling. AIDS doesn't have any symptoms upon infection, so why would they be testing for it? Also, the point about lack of testing for Ebola virus is very valid.
My guess is this is rumor mongering & that is all. However, I'd love for Ebola to break out right in the middle of an ISIS encampment. It would be rough on the hostages, but it would also deter any new recruits & keep ISIS fighters occupied.
Be safe, Happy New Year! Chuck

Although of course there is no lab confirmations on these as of yet, in the later stages of Ebola the symptoms are fairly distinct and they may not need to be tested to give us an idea. An example is the number of "suspected" cases in W. Africa due to the distinct symptoms - that are a dead give away. You can rule out Malaria because I don't believe you have the rash (bruising) or bloody blisters as you do with Ebola. Lassa fever has a death rate of 1%, so we can probably rule that out pretty quick, and the rash is not a symptom with that one as well. Possible Marburg? I'm not sure there has ever been a Marburg outbreak in Iraq, or even 1 case for that matter.
Any medical personnel over there could probably figure this one out. Now, whether it's related to Isis is a question mark.
Either way you slice, if it's Ebola we'll know soon enough as a lot of the hospital workers that are currently treating the unconfirmed cases, will be sick or dead very soon, as with a lot of Iraq. Chances of containing will be 0.0 and Iraq will be the new Sierra Leone. Although worse because Iraq won't accept foreign help. Armaggedon for Iraq if they have a cluster on their hands.
The
two biggest news stories of 2014 collided Wednesday when Iraqi media
outlets reported that members of the Islamic State group -- also known
as ISIS -- had contracted the deadly virus Ebola. But later updates from
the World Health Organization and Iraq's Ministry of Health indicate
the stories may be just rumors.
"We have no official notification ... that it is Ebola," Christy Feig, director of communications for WHO, told Mashable, though WHO has contacted Iraqi officials to offer help.
Iraq's Ministry of Health also denied that anyone in Mosul had
contracted the Ebola virus, which broke out in March in West Africa.
Spokesman Ahmed Rudaini told news site Al-Maalomah
that Mosul doesn't even have the technological capability to diagnose
Ebola cases -- only Baghdad does. Therefore, he said, the reports that
Ebola has infected anyone in Mosul are "incorrect" and "unfounded."
The discussion started with an article in Iraq's official newspaper, Al-Sabah,
that said "terrorists" brought Ebola to Mosul. "Many diseases and
epidemics have spread among residents of the city of Mosul," it read.
"Two Ebola and 26 HIV/AIDS cases were registered."
Ebola is primarily a threat in West Africa, where its latest outbreak
has killed nearly 8,000 people. Mashable reported ISIS has not
recruited fighters from any countries severely affected by the disease.
Its African members are primarily from Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Sudan
and Tunisia.
In the event ISIS does have Ebola, the militants could use it as a
biological terror technique, Forbes reported in October. Members could
contract the virus on purpose and then go to foreign countries to infect
others. “The individual exposed to the Ebola virus would be the
carrier,” national security professor Al Shimkus told Forbes. “In
the context of terrorist activity, it doesn’t take much sophistication
to go to that next step to use a human being as a carrier.”
ISIS, a body of militants labeled a terrorist group by the United
States and European Union (among others), has controlled Mosul since
June. Iraq's second-largest city is also ISIS' largest stronghold. The
group began spreading across the Middle East last summer, taking over
large swaths of Iraq and Syria through brutal tactics.

This is definitely my personal record for posting on a thread, lol. I'm going to go out on a limb here, and suggest that these are not just rumors and there is an outbreak of some sort. Nobody seems to be questioning that these patients in fact died of a bad virulent disease, which is leading me to believe that there is some truth to these rumors. The WHO also seems to be leaning in that direction as well. Could be Ebola, but no ISIS.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), members of the
Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq are reportedly arriving in hospitals
suffering with symptoms of the hemorrhagic fever Ebola.
The Daily Mail reported Friday
that the health agency is investigating rumors that have been
circulating for days that members of the shadowy group are falling ill
with the disease in the ISIS-held city of Mosul.
WHO spokesman Christy Feig told the Mail that the agency is
attempting to communicate with people inside Mosul in hopes of
containing the disease before it begins to spread, if in fact it has
somehow traveled from western Africa to the Middle Eastern state.
Feig told Mashable, “We have no official notification from [the Iraqi government] that it is Ebola.”
However, Feig warned, communications with ISIS-held areas is spotty
and that investigating the claims could be a complicated and dangerous
process, given the extremely violent nature of the extremist group. The Mailclaims that ISIS militants have executed 11 doctors just in the past few weeks.
For months, Ebola has ravaged parts of west Africa, killing thousands and infecting thousands more in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.
Now, an anonymous source claiming to speak from inside the hospital has told Iraqi news agency al Sabbah that foreign fighters coming to join the ISIS movement brought the disease with them.
Feig told Mashable that Ebola’s symptoms — high fever, nausea,
diarrhea, vomiting, copious bleeding and bruising — are common to a
number of diseases including Lhassa fever, yellow fever, the Marburg
virus and malaria.
Also, Mashable’s Brian Ries noted, “While ISIS has recruited foreign fighters, very few of them — if any at all — are believed to have traveled from West Africa.”
Benjamin T. Decker, an intelligence analyst and Iraq specialist with
the Levantine Group — a Middle East-based consulting agency — told
Mashable, “U.N. workers have thus far been prohibited from entering
ISIS-controlled territory in both Iraq and Syria.”
“In this context,” Decker said, “the lack of medical infrastructure,
supplies and practitioners in the city suggests that the outbreak could
quickly lead to further infection of both ISIS fighters and residents of
Mosul.”
I suppose we will just keep posting news on the rumors as they continue. Are they now saying 14 bodies?

The Ministry of Health denied registration and no cases or suspected infection "Ebola" in Iraq, and as pointed out that news of it just "rumors", confirmed it had taken precautionary measures in anticipation of his appearance.
Well it's not Malaria. With Malaria you don't have the bruising/rash, nor the bloody blisters. You also don't hemorrhage and bleed. Crazy comparison. What's crazier is suggesting it could be Marburg, unless it's the first ever Marburg cases in the middle east. I don't believe there has also ever been a case of lassa fever in that region. Those are Africa diseases. Plus Lassa has a fatality rate of around 1%. When the WHO mentioned those crazy possibilities, couldn't help think to myself they must use that line quite a bit.

It seems that there is some truth to the rumors - And there appears to be a disease outbreak in Mosul, which in fact led to the burning of the dead bodies. That part is probably true. Now, the part I question is that ISIS intentionally brought it there., and that's fairly doubtful. There is a lot of incoming travel to the middle east from Morocco, and Morocco is good at covering cases to a degree that rivals Nigeria. Likelihood of imported cases to the middle east is inevitable.
Is Iraq confirming the outbreak?
