True Story of Anonymous - Hacktivism-update

Who is Anonymous - Hacktivism - the growing cyber-army.

No, it is not one old man on a computer, handicapped, on drugs and confused. It is the voice of the new generation, it is pure cyber power on the Internet. Among our youth, some do care, and want to fight in a war which threatens their countries and their lives... they are not one - they are legion - yet - they are Anonymous.  We should have known they were coming - that they would say
"Expect Us" - they are here.

This is not to support or suggest anyone join them. Some of the attacks on sites and businesses have cause millions of dollars in damages and members of affiliated groups are under indictment and criminal prosecution. Yet the "Real News" is they have become a powerful force on the internet. Carrying on attacks on Twitter, declaring war against Isis, and all who they feel deserve to be attacked. This is a reality and something we should be aware of. This is a political movement, most of whom are young like we have not seen in decades.  We can ask people not to resort to violence or revolution and try to work within democracy and leaders elected by the people. We can ask. Some will not listen. Some will take action - some will unite- some are.

A shill, also called a plant or a stooge, is a person who publicly helps or gives credibility to a person or organization without disclosing that they have a close relationship with the person or organization. Shills can carry out their operations in the areas of media, journalism, marketing or other business areas.

Shill typically refers to someone who purposely gives onlookers the impression that they are an enthusiastic independent customer of a seller (or marketer of ideas) for whom they are secretly working. The person or group who hires the shill is using crowd psychology to encourage other onlookers or audience members to purchase the goods or services (or accept the ideas being marketed). Shills are often employed by professional marketing campaigns. "Plant" and "stooge" more commonly refer to any person who is secretly in league with another person or organization while pretending to be neutral or actually a part of the organization he is planted in, such as a magician's audience, a political party, or an intelligence organization (see double agent).

Medclinician: cobber, I can see why you might think this. However, there have been some hard choices in posting and trying to post on this group. They have existed since 2003- 13 years and began on imageboard 4chan a rather loose-knit group who were allow to post "anything" anonymously. Certainly as a programmer for over 30 years I could have fit in the niche as well as had the technical skills to make these videos myself. But no. I neither support this group, are connected to them, or belong to them.

Members have done some rather ambitious hacktivism, some is what was criminal, and several are under indictment in the U.S. for prosecution. The loose net hacking people, noting here there are many female hackers and the number has increased with time, have nebulously sought for some name or organization to be loosely affiliated with.

The reason for putting up what they are doing is that people are starting to put up "official" sites i.e. Facebook claiming to represent them. As you stated, they could be used by U.S. intelligence, and they have a tendency to simulate terrorists in order to gather data and even set up organizations to do so. There was a note that before Isis was born, someone very high level said "you know we should form a fake terrorist group." 

This name - Anonymous - the mask - the whole mindset will be used by some in this election to push their ideas. One might note the style of some which tends to be rather consistent although the "We are legion-expect us" can be used by anyone - anonymously. 

So... who is the real person. This video- which has been denied to be from Anonymous declares a war on Donald Trump. In it the narrator puts up proof the are "the real group" and now it would appear there is a rift.

In March 2016, Anonymous was reported to have declared war on Donald Trump.^[156] However, the 'Anonymous Official' YouTube channel released a video denouncing #OpTrump as an operation that "goes against everything Anonymous stands for" in reference to censorship and added "we are for everyone letting their voices be heard, even, if the person at hand...is a monster."^[157]

There is an official YouTube site- there is an official Facebook page with over 170,000 likes. Yet this is up and there will be more videos from many claiming to be - Anonymous. 

It bears the click to subscribe to the channel as well as the logo. Who is the real Anonymous?
