Oseltamivir, sold under the brand name Tamiflu, is an antiviral medication used to treat and prevent influenza A and influenza B(flu). Many medical organizations recommend it in people who have complications or are at high risk of complications within 48 hours of first symptoms of infection. They recommend it to prevent infection in those at high-risk, but not the general population. The CDC recommends that clinicians use their discretion to treat those at lower risk who present within 48 hours of first symptoms of infection. It is taken by mouth, either as a pill or liquid.

There is a problem here, when the drug companies conduct the trials, and then decide which data to publish. The failure of WHO, CDC etc in all this seems to me to be that they have not made it illegal for the drug companies to suppress data of trials that they "don't like".
Roche made a lot of money ($18bn in sales worldwide) out of this dubious practice of suppressing unwanted data. |

Tamiflu has been practically useless since day one. Never had any faith in it whatsoever, and it was never in my preps.
H5N1 was used to the max to push Tamiflu as the panacea that would save the world from a pandemic. It doesn't do what they claim, it has a relatively short shelf life, and they sold it to panicking nations around the world in huge quantities. The British Medical Association's publication, The Lancet, had some pretty damning articles about Tamiflu over the years. Roche was allowed to cherry pick what data they would release (all good, naturally), and the world thanked them and bought their product. And guess who was the chairman of Gilead Sciences, the company that holds the rights and gets 10% of the revenue from the sales from Roche, the manufacturer? http://money.cnn.com/2005/10/31/news/newsmakers/fortune_rumsfeld/ |

pretty darn close
WHO decision to downgrade Tamiflu 'comes far too late' argues experthttps://medicalxpress.com/news/2017-07-decision-downgrade-tamiflu-late-expert.html and then there is this "In 2014, an editorial in The BMJ described a "multisystem failure," which he says is an apt description for the series of decisions based on flawed evidence made by the EMA, CDC, and WHO. These include the failure to publish all available evidence, to make the data available at the individual patient level, and to recognise the limitations of observational data." DELIBERATELY withheld evidence ? gonna trust WHO or the CDC when the next pandemic hits ??? |
