There is no way ANYTHING concrete was going to be conceded by NK at this summit. All that was possible was opening the door, whoever was doing the negotiating. I am surprised at the cessation of the "Wargames", but I honestly do not know if this is a good or bad thing. We will have to wait and see. It was rather rude not to let the South Korean allies know that said games were on the negotiating table, but even they seem happy enough. So, neither win or fowl there. It was a truly wonderful publicity stunt by both sides. That is the only thing I can say with any certainty.

The left would criticize anything President Trump does...just a fact. I agree with Our President we do not spend money on these puffery war games. It does not add to peace. Now you lefties love Peace so I would think that this is a good thing but NO President Trump did this so it is BAD! Give me a break people!

South Korea Blindsided By Trump War Games AgreementU.S. President Donald Trump’s declaration on Tuesday that he intended to
end joint military exercises in Korea seemed to be news to both South
Korean and U.S. military officials.

The Trump-Kim Summit Was Not A Failure But It Did Disappointhttps://www.redstate.com/streiff/2018/06/12/trump-kim-summit-not-failure-disappoint/ what the %^&$#% ??? the so called summit is already over and Trump walked away with ????? 1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity. 2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. 3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. 4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified. really? that's it ???? so much for the great "deal maker" |

No surprise there - without an army of high powered lawyers, and his usual bully/litigate/stall tactics, he's a mediocre deal maker at best.

Trump Was Outfoxed in SingaporeIt sure looks as if President Trump was hoodwinked in Singapore. Trump made a huge concession — the suspension of military exercises with South Korea. That’s on top of the broader concession of the summit meeting itself, security guarantees he gave North Korea and the legitimacy that the summit provides his counterpart, Kim Jong-un. Within North Korea, the “very special bond” that Trump claimed to have formed with Kim will be portrayed this way: Kim forced the American president, through his nuclear and missile tests, to accept North Korea as a nuclear equal, to provide security guarantees to North Korea, and to cancel war games with South Korea that the North has protested for decades. In exchange for these concessions, Trump seems to have won astonishingly little. In a joint statement, Kim merely “reaffirmed” the same commitment to denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula that North Korea has repeatedly made since 1992. |

I could go on: Jobs up, yes, but wages
down and most of the legislation to protect workers in the workplace has
been removed. Then, if you are unlucky enough to be injured in this
riskier environment (the employer having dropped your healthcare - as
the loss of Obamacare no longer forced him to do his bit and on the
lower wages you coud not afford any) you are just left to rot or die on
welfare/skid row. The rise in black lung, I keep harping on about, is a
case in point. I ecpect you are retired, Med, so no problem there. Racial
divides and profiling are returning your country toward segregarion.
Being black in America today seems almost as bad as it was 30 years
ago. Not everything Obama did was all that good, but he did do some
good stuff. Trump appears to be determined to sweep all of it away,
regardless of usefullness. Taking everything else into account, I can
only conclude that is because Obama was not completely white. But that is ok 'coz you are,. Eh, Med? CO2
ts at record levels and the seas are starting to rise. It will soon be
bad news for Florida, but not quite yet. It is already disasterous for
Samoa. That's OK, you don't live there, Med. Would you pander to
Kim? It is not as if the propaganda coop would affect you personally,
You are not a North Korean after all. What I am trying to say is: '"I'm alright Jack" is nothing to be proud of.' I
can't comment on your opinion of Trump's sexual proclivities, I won't
even guess at yours. I can't comment on collusion with the Russians, as
not all our politically active people avoid it either. To think Trump
avoided it is to fail to understand how persasive Russian agents can be,
but that is not to say he is guilty of anything other than a moment of
naivete. Everyone on the planet is guilty of that sometimes. I
can point out that what is said, is not necessarily true. That is the
case with all politicians, but rather more so in Trump's case. I can
also say that improved finances for the country don't necessarily
translate into better lives for most people. They always benefit the
rich however. Oh yes! Trump is certainly one of those! |

Thank you Carbon, but I am just getting started. Now I have calmed down I can tackle the summit itself. Trump has (possibly) scored a small win. He is 'talking it up' for self aggrandisement. But the very fact that there was a meeting is historic. Then the trading started. Kim achieved a huge win in that Trump agreed to stop the war games in the region. He scored another in the opportunities back home to sell this as a propaganda coop. He can take home the film of the meeting and say: "Look I talk as an equal with the leader of the West." Believe me, that will not help relax the iron grip he holds over the North Korean people. This is the kind of acceptance (apparent or real is unimportant) all dictators crave. It helps maintain control! Kim also said he agreed that de-nuclearisation was a goal. Of course, he agreed to no inspections, timetable or specifics. Without those things the agreement is just words - but that will not stop Herr Trumpenfuhrer from claiming it a huge win. Just like the dictator he met, he can use that for propaganda - and he will. What a wonderful, powerfull, historic win for both sides - in the propaganda stakes.

Proud? Really? CO2 up, Black lung at record levels, jobs up but wages down. Healtcare almost nonexistant except for the richest? A President who sexually assaults women? A President who has sex with a sex worker whilst his wife is pregnant? A racist President? A President with no understanding of how much damage he has done to America's international reputation? And yet you are proud of him because he is meeting with a jumped up dictator who is doing his reputation the world of good but has only a very slim chance of producing anything usefull! WHY?

Have been silent now for quite a long time until today.
Just finished watching the news for what is a huge win for our president Donald Trump. This was historic - and from a regime threatening to blow us up with nuke to a meeting and a handshake and working together for peace - I can say and mean again - he is one of the BEST President's in America in the last 50 years. The lowest job rate in decades, especially for blacks. Many of his highest and most influential people working with him are women and with the recent approval of the first female head of the CIA in history - we are seeing a change with a president who is more than promises - but actions. We may be on the verge of the end of the Korean War - a re-unification of Korea into a profitable richer more successful part of the world economy than ever before. History in the making. I am proud of our president - the economy - the jobs - addressing the issues that need to be handled and doing something about it. Medclinician |

Sooo....Dodd-Frank is being repealed. Now we have to trust that Wall Street will regulate itself. Just like they failed to do in 1987 and 2008. And if the next financial crisis happens with Trump at the helm, we'll be relying on a guy with a bought and paid for "Gentleman's Degree" in economics and a string of failed business ventures to prevent a second depression.
Awesome. |

Come to think of it, ten points in his hand anyway - from his supporters. Even if the NK deal goes awry, they will all believe he won anyway so the election points are still there - even if they are an illusion.

Ten points in Trump's hand - for the moment. We are waiting to see if Kim snatches them back, or even if some are illusions. It is also possible that Kim will try to snatch things back and Trump will catch him - it is far harder to con a conman than someone honest.
I think Kim is pulling a fast one. Whether or not Trump is faster remains to be seen. As for the minus scores? They still stand. |

NO points to Trump on the NK thing....he's being set up by a regime that is masterful in deceit and double-dealing.
Halting testing? No big deal, they have their warhead design now. Pakistan doesn't test either, but they are still building "Islamic bombs" (*crickets*) Destroying his test site? Kim already destroyed it with so many tests. Surrender his nukes? Yeah, that'll be the day. Let prisoners go? He sure knows how to jerk American heartstrings & pull Trump's chain. Trump handed something that is invaluable to Kim = prestige and international credibility. This is a guy who killed his own half-brother with outlawed VX nerve agent. Nobel prize?

No matter what Trump does - how much he accomplishes - the haters are never going to quit. They will be debating about Hillary long after we know she and Bill operated a pay for play organization and were in collusion with the Russians.
Reality - they are about to save the U.S. from a nuclear war with North Korea - or at least the destruction of Seoul, South Korea by a nuke or at least guns. Obama did nothing to make our world more peaceful and by his negligence allowed Isis to flourish in Syria and Russia to move their forces their. The he gave Iran almost a billion dollar which financed the develop of nukes and terrorist. Students don't think Trump should get the peace prize - but they haven't a intelligent clue as to why they think Obama got it. https://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/2009/press.html Well here is some reality for those who live in the misty realms of social justice warrior delusion... Trump may get it. Medclinician |

Spot on Carbon my friend. That is how I feel.
America is a good friend - not a perfect one. But, that is OK, we are imperfect too - for all that we mean well. Think of me as Irish or Brit; either way America is an ally, as are Australia Canada and NZ. |

....... Which is what I am hoping for. I don't think Trump is normal for America. I don't think Trump is normal for anyone. I don't think Trump is normal! I really firmly believe the American people (well at least half of them) were duped. I am worried that some of them still are.
Wage slavery, when it overrides other important parts of life, is still slavery in a way. It is less overt; it locks people into economic traps instead of locking them up in chains. But the freedom is still gone. I have the choice to move around for love or homesickness, not just for a better salary, because the better salary gives me designer clothes, not better healthcare. I am lucky enough to have been able to drop the big wage packet and replace it with true treasures. I want that freedom for everyone else. I don't think Britain is perfect - very far from it! Historically they were absolutely ghastly! Actually I am mostly Irish - with a bit of Welsh and a bit of Scots. My own Grandfather was educated in a hedge school, because Irish education was illegal - then they made jokes about us being thick. CHARMING!! Freedom, care, justice, democracy and security are ephemeral things which have to be fought for, or they evaporate. Britain has it about right for now, but who knows for how long? (I have an Irish passport just in case........................) That risk applies to every country on the planet. If you don't see them evaporating you can't fight to retain them. I'm too old and decrepit to march off with a rifle now, but democracy, freedom and care can be fought for with pen and keyboard as well. The upside of that is I can fight for my friends at the same time. I could pick an argument with most past Presidents, but overall they were generally great guys. I really wish I could say that of Trump. It is not even a question of left/right, more a question of right/wrong. I could shut up and upset nobody, but I chose to fight for my friends. You would tell your friend if you saw someone lifting their wallet, even if it embarrased your friend. A true friend speaks up if they see their pal making a fool of himself, even if that mention sparks an argument. Trump is a conman, with a trail of wounded in his wake - some mortally. Now he is in a position to do that to a whole country, maybe even the whole world. |

Med said "In the mean time, we have a new ally. We have never really been that close with France and now they have a renegade as well, Macron, not a classic politician attempting to fight ISIS and free the world of the terrorist threat."
Really?!!! France is the oldest ally the United States has! Since B Franklin signed the Treaty of Amity and Commerce and the Treaty of Alliance in 1778 we have been allies. The French have always come to our aid faster than we've come to theirs! Learn your history!! Also, To all you Brits: I'm Scots and Irish and my elders still tell stories of how we were treated in "the old country"! We came here and with the help of the French kicked the English out which is more than most of you can say! My family fought in both WW I and WW II, and yes, it took too long for us to join in on both but what has the U K ever done for us! We've been enemies as often as we've been allies! And also! Don't believe American TV represents American life, it doesn't! Don't confuse the far righteous anomaly that is Trump with the soul of America! Like all countries we have our fair share of Fascists but they are a tiny minority! We are no more slaves than you are Techno! We are a free people! We may not always choose rightly but we can always change our minds! |

Well I have been researching America's role in the first world war; to my shame I knew little about it.
It turns out that your involvement only occurred in 1917, although the war raged from 1914 onwards. Worse, American involvement was only brought about because their own ships were being lost due to U-boat attacks - AND THAT CUT INTO THEIR PROFITS. Make no mistake, the first world war showered Britain in something very, very far from glory, but America can't claim the moral, friendship or courage high ground here either. Source: https://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/world-war-one/america-and-world-war-one/ Thank you Flumom, for encouraging me to fill in this shameful hole in my knowledge. I am sorry to have uncovered no glory or either of us. |

Yeah, You helped us in WWII. You did not do so until You were attacked at Pearl Harbour and then YOU CHARGED US FOR IT! We only finished paying in the 80s. So don't act as if that was the greatest act of friendship ever. We fought too, for longer and we faced the Blitz. Had Hitler defeated us, the world would be a far darker place. So thank you for your help, but don't imagine it made you look like avenging angels or even best friends - just great businessmen.
I actually liked Obama, but I concede he was far from perfect. I like most of your Past Presidents on both sides of the house. Trump however stands out - for all the wrong reasons. America is a great country. It's manufacturing might is the envy of the free world. It is truly the land of opportunities. But, it is not a caring country. It is not a safe country. Justice is only available for the rich; medicine likewise. Jobs for the workers may be growing in number but the legislation to protect them is shrinking - do you WANT to be slaves? Because that is what you are being turned into. Having a bit of paper which calls you a free citizen does not make you one. The freedom to avoid opression, incarceration, disease and poverty does. I occasionally watch American TV. Every decision faced by every adult comes back to money. In America you die without it. The governments of most other countries try to save the poor. But, as demonstrated by your TV dramas, the need to maintain a job at any cost is paramount. Great to make your nation strong! But why? Strong for what? Does it then care for those who worked so hard? AND THE WORST PART OF THIS IS THAT THE SLAVERY IS SO COMPLETE YOU CAN NO LONGER SEE IT FOR WHAT IT IS! How you expect a billionaire, who left many of his investors bankrupt to change this is simply beyond me. He may have placed pipes and pumps into the swamp, but the flow of sewage is going the wrong way. |

You really believe that Trump will be able to smooth-talk Kim into giving up his nukes?? Kim can easily halt warhead testing = he has designs that they have proven will work. Pakistan, India, Israel etc. have all done the same thing. With modern super-computers, you can do the equivalent of "fine-tuning" the warheads without actually blowing them up (which wastes fissile material). Same goes for his missile launches = they work. Also, the main test site in North Korea is so damaged that it is in danger of leaking radiation: Nukes are all Kim has to prevent regime change, the chance that he will surrender those to a smooth-talking master negotiator like Trump is exactly zero. Worst President, ever. |

Technophobe, I can tell you what the American People see in Trump. A chance to drain the Swamp. D.C. is so corrupt Republicans and Democrats. Many Republicans are dumping out of running because they can't do as many dirty deals and Democrats just don't care they stay because no matter what they will continue to do the dirty deals. Dems just do not care they deal dirty all the time.
You in Europe better be glad the American People made Trump President because if we have to bail your butts out again like we did in WWI and WWII you better be glad Trump is President. And if Trump is not President you better hope that you get another Republican President because no Democrat President will come to Europe's Aid again. Roosevelt and Kennedy were more Republican than many Republicans today. The Democrats will sell their mother for a little money in their own pockets so they would never help Europe again. Look at Obama he made a mess of everything and Trump is trying to correct all of his screw ups. North Korea and the Middle East just to name two. Better be careful what you wish for you may not get what you want. |

I've got to agree with Jacksdad, Med.
Trump does appear to be quite good with money, as are most Republicans. But unlike other Republicans, he seems to have made a total shambles of everything else. Believe me, over here, he is a laughing stock. No one on this side of the pond can understand what so many Americans can see in him. I mean we really don't get it. We see a man with more flaws than the Devil, mired in controvesy, uncaring about the people he hurts and lacking in any redeeming features save one - good with money. That is not enough to make a good man; or even a human being - a soulless computer can do that. I concede he is "good with money" and that has advantages, but nothing else. I see him as a shame on your nation that many Americans were duped into voting for. I hope it was a mistake. If you all voted for the real Trump - I can't say what I think. I don't want to lose that many friends. |

You're entitled to your views, Med, but I see nothing Trump has done since taking office that qualifies as shining. Unless we're talking about the flickering of the flames in his dumpster fire of a presidency.

Trump continues to shine despite a hostile media, a corrupt CIA and FBI and a host of complete and total falsehood. It is possible he will win the Nobel Peace Prize for finally muzzling Kim Jong-un and forcing him to abandon his nuclear program.
In the mean time, we have a new ally. We have never really been that close with France and now they have a renegade as well, Macron, not a classic politician attempting to fight ISIS and free the world of the terrorist threat. Macron is a very effective and honest man. His comments were very interesting this morning and I feel he has an insight into Trump and an understanding. We need unity with U.K. and France as allies against the terrorists and ISIS. Our president continues to shine and perhaps is doing more for our country than any other president has in years.
