So what is everyone working on this month? We have been doing a lot of yard work and garden work. The weather is already hot, has hit 100 a couple of day already and it's early for that. The tomato plants are doing well, the spinach it's getting too hot for, the carrots and onions are still growing, the radishes are finished I think, strawberries and peppers are just getting started.

Due to record hot May and record dry as well, most of the work consists of pumping water (emergency hand pump on a well) to water the garden. This includes vegetable and some fruit and the wife's flowers (have to keep her happy). Maybe not strictly prepping, I have ordered a solar panel system. It will be grid-connected so not so much of a help in emergency, but it will have connections so that later on battery backup systems could be added. Given how far north we are, there should be next to zero production in the height of winter so absolutely gigantic batteries would be needed to get through the lean months (ie it is not a viable way to go). Wind would be a better way to go for winter electricity production, but our house is in the lee of a wooded ridge just north of the house (blocks the cold north wind, which is nice for us but would limit the viability of any windmill).
