Chest freezers are cheap, critter resistant and longterm storage.  Maybe those solar panels could power a chest freezer that would extend shelf life of stuff at no cost till needed.  A cheap chest freezer loaded up with rice, flour, beans, and whatever is a large thermal mass that once cooled down will take little energy to stay cool till opened.  Use the solar panels you bought for later use with batteries and an inverter to keep stuff longer at no power costs.
