This could be called wierd but helpful ideas also. One I have heard is to buy clothing sized a couple sizes bigger then yourself, so you dont look too fat when you have to go out. LOL It makes sense though, another is to use sprinklers on your roof in case of fire, or someone throwing burning objects. Bury hidden food under a dog house. Dog cant get to it, and most intruders wouldnt want to. Always have hidden food and money and meds in more then one spot so you cant be wiped out with a burglary. Put up a protected by smith and wesson sign even if you dont have a weapon, could give pause. Solar spot lights. Anything that is going to make someone go past you to a easier target. Syphon your own gas out of any car on the street or get a locking gas cap, or you will loose your gas. Baseball bats and golf clubs and paddle locks on the end of a chain make good weapons in a pinch. A old Weber grill near a vented window can be used to burn wood. Dryer lint saved helps to start a fire. Brain storm and lets see what we come up with!!

I just received this in an email. Having loaded, available firearm protection in the home is important. JMHO
Subject: LOADED GUNS IN THE HOUSE..!! You bet!
The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental. As John Steinbeck once said: 1. Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you. 2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your ta ctics are questionable. 3. I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy. 4. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away. 5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him, "Why do you carry a 45?" The Ranger responded, "Because they don't make a 46." 6. Armed men will kill an unarmed men with monotonous regularity. 7. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. "Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?" "No Ma'am, If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle." 8. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!! But wait, there's more! I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said, "I did" She said, "Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!" To which I said, "Of course it is loaded, can't work without bullets!" She then asked, "Are you that afraid of some one evil coming into your house?" My reply was, "Not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, they are all loaded too." To which I'll add, having a gun in the house that isn't loaded is like having a car in the garage without gas in the tank. I'm a firm believer of the 2nd Ammendmment. |

My only concern there was that you planned to take gas from other people's cars. I think one of the purposes of prepping is to be self-sufficient and to actually help others. I had not thought of wearing baggy clothes. Probably because I don't plan to go out after things get under way if they get under way. But along the lines of what you were saying if I had to go out in the first few days I would wear my N95 mask under a bandana so no one knew I was wearing it. I expect most people would be wearing bandanas and I would blend in. |
