This thread is a spinoff from the "you know you are a prepper" when thread.

Someone on that thread made this comment...

You know you're a prepper when the Walmart register clerk greets you by name and calls for extra help to bag your order! (& you haven't unloaded it onto the belt yet.)

Does anyone even wonder if say, walmart is watching for people that prep?  I mean, if someone is buying huge amounts a supplies each week, do you think there is a way for them to track that?  Would they bother?

Has anyone thought about this enough to make sure they rotate where they shop as to now arouse suspicion?

and by check as well, and especially when using those preferred buyer cards that get you better pricing

So do you buy everything with cash? Sounds sensible and smart, but I haven't done it.

Just got back from Wal-Mart. Our cart was literally overflowing. If ya picture the average cart, food was stacked in ours about a foot or so above the top, and there were several more items on the shelf thingy at the bottom. Did anyone look at us strangely? Nope. We've been going about once a week or so, getting stuff and we have yet to see another person as loaded down as us, or get any comments whatsoever. I've heard of head in the sand, but this is unreal...

SAM'S CLUB  -- At check out they first ask for your club card and scan it.  That stores  your shopping history with them. From what you buy to how you pay (cash, check, card).   I have a business card there and needed a receipt for my records (large depreciation items) .  That's when I found out they could go back one year with no problem, back to your first purchase, but would involve longer more detailed search for them.

I think the government might care, if they plan to confiscate supplies from people to share with other people in the event that there is a shortage of supplies. What an easy way for them to just ask Walmart for the info, they could then go into areas and confiscate and redistribute. Now I am not saying this is going to happen or if the government would even be bothered (depends how bad it gets) but it certainly COULD be a possibility. It doesn't harm to think things through and entertain all possibilities, because we just don't know.....

I often get asked what I'm doing - I say we're stocking a cabin we just bought.

That always leads to a nice conversation about camping, marshmallows & bugs.

And besides, they can't track the stuff - they have no way of knowing where our bug-out place is.

The thinking about "Big Brother"Walmart is not extreme. I was commenting to a clerk about the temp. being uncomfortable in the store. They said the temp. cannot be adjusted because it is regulated by satellite to all Walmart stores as a money saving function-as they were told by management. Sounds so possible!  so why wouldn't the satellite be used for tracking $$$$ to keep merchandise moving?
