What are you considering for mail disinfection? UV germicidal lamps seem like a good idea around 254 nm from what I have seen, ideas welcomed. Edited by Flubird |

Ozone soaking in a box. UV only does surfaces and won't get to inside of envelopes etc. Box with both ozone and UV to clean all incoming things, refresh masks and clean cloths before washing.

Neat concept, where can one get an ozone generator capable of producing sufficient ozone to safely disinfect materials? tia |

we need to come up with a way that doesn't use electricity, is portable and cost effective.. .mmmmmmm...... bleech on a rag in a zip lock bag for two hours? throw away all junk mail straigh from mail box.
How do we stop spread of virus thru money? surely the virus is a threat on money. when they hand it to you at the register in the store? Have them drop it in clorox rag bag? microwave? |

Speculation is the only tool we have with a threat that can circle the globe in 30 days. Test results&news is slow.Factor in human conditions, politics, money&bingo! The truth!Facts come after the fact.

Dave, Thanks, I'm just am not much of a writer. I just ran a test on the ozone generator running on a small inverter (100 Watt) happy as a clam, plugged in a small UVC lamp with a 12vdc ballast, the two combined drew about .75 amps from the battery, lots of hours of use in a car battery. |

This was about the cheapest source I could find. Put the bubbler in water and check out the taste as well. |

I will open mail outside wearing appropriate protection. Toss junk mail. Anything I need to keep will be put in bleach water then hang up to dry. Then taken into house.
I think this will work. Edited by Enumclaw,WA |

I would not even go near my mailbox..I have to walk to the end of the block to get mine..we all have a small box...I will pay my bills online as long as I can and then after that if it goes as bad as we might think there will no us in reading anything...and since the mailman is human and could possibly get the avian flu..I don,t think he will be delivering mail...

I love the idea of soaking mail in bleach, letting it dry and then bringing it in. Sounds like a plan. I just don't want to walk to the end of the road to get the mail. I will be afraid to even go outside. Not sure what I will do when my husband wants to go to the garage because he is board .

I think Dr. Niman could help out here.
I would pay my bills online. I won't bring anything in my house, .....unless someone sends me gold. It's just not worth the risk. With every letter is risk. Nothings that important. If I get a bill that I can't pay online, I'll open it with gloves, write down the amount due and dump it. Any letter can hold virus both inside and out. Mail probably won't be daily. MK |

MK, thks, I certainly agree; if necessary I'll probably use some combination of time, UV, chlorine (from hypochlorite-bleach) and alcohol but you're right, nothing should come inside.
