I would think that it wouldn't be a good idea to try to obtain anything like that in Mexico.  If he did find someone who "had" it, he more than likely would get something "other than" what he was "purchasing".  It's likely it would be counterfeit as the supply has been "routed" by the pharmacutical companies and governments worlwide some months ago.  I don't believe it's commercially available anywhere now.

tamiflu isn't a vaccine, and it's very little if any help in regards to H5N1.  It's used to treat the symptoms, to lessen the effect of them.  It's not  a cure or something which can be used as a preventative.

Thomas Angel, I don't agree with you.

Tamiflu is an antiviral drug that prevents/limits the virus in spreading through the body.

All the people that recovered from the Bf were treated with Tamiflu, and
none of the people that were NOT treated with Tamiflu have survived.

So, I think that (as long as the virus does not develop an immunity against it) Tamiflu is essential in the treatment of BF-patients.

Marjo,

BTW, when I told my doctor about my planned vacation in Thailand in April, she wrote me a prescription for Tamiflu and I could easily pick it up at my pharmacy

It is possible to still buy Tamiflu, you just have to look hard on the Internet. Does anyone know if their is a generic 'Tamiflu'. I ordered 2 lots through different companies, the first arrived ok with the 'Roche' label etc but the second told me they were out of 'Roche Tamiflu' but sent what they called a generic Tamiflu which they didn't charge for..... so if it's a scam why didn't they charge? or if they're ok why doesn't everyone including Governments buy it? I'm assuming there is no way for me to test them for authenticity?
I hope I'm just a scare monger...

You might also try looking for Relenza. While not tested on BF as Tamiflu, it might be helpful nonetheless, as many have reported

Can someone locate or has read the article about Tamiflu and deaths related to using it?  and about the pharmecuticals company wanting safety nets and promisaries of no "lawsuits" from the governments before going into full swing production due to highly possible terrible, damaging secondary effects?  I read it sometime ago, can't remember where?

The lawsuits stuff is mostly in regards to vaccines not Tamiflu.

There were some reports of some Japanese children who were taking Tamiflu as a prophylactic (sp?) suffered from mental health side-effects that may have resulted in some deaths via suicide. I havent got a link to this though, didnt read much detail about it.

Andy,
I've never heard of a generic version of Tamiflu before. But, I did find this article about companies who claim to be able to make generic versions:
