Swine Flu Kills Kern County Woman

POSTED: 11:51 pm PDT September 12, 2009

Health officials said Saturday that the swine flu has killed a 37-year-old woman. Officials said the woman died after being hospitalized with the pandemic flu virus. They said the woman had other underlying conditions which may have put her at risk for a severe case of the H1N1 illness. This is the 153 person to die from pandemic flu in California. There have also been 16 hospitalizations in Kern County. The Kern County Department of Public Health is coordinating with state and federal agencies in conducting swine flu surveillance and implementing measures to lessen the impact of the flu virus. Officials expect more deaths to happen through out the state and that does not exclude Kern County.
