Flumom had a good suggestion with getting the pneumonia vax to prevent the secondary bacterial pneumonia infection from MERS. If memory serves me right, I believe the vaccination is good for approximately 5 years, but it's been a log time since I researched it.
I believe there are also now two pneumonia vaccines to get, the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. CDC: pneumococcal vaccination PCV13 is recommended for all children younger than 59 months old and for adults with
certain
risk factors. Children 24 months or older who are at high risk of pneumococcal
disease should also receive the pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine
(PPSV23). All adults 65 or older — and those 19 or older with risk factors — should
receive PPSV23. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/pneumo/ |

Feel free to post any info on this subject.
Also- we'll keep this thread at the top of this forum room through this next flu season, and once you get the pneumonia vax, post here on this and confirm it, and let us know- or if you've already had it. I will get mine shortly. Best to all, Albert |
