The flu mask warning isn't appropriate because it is dated August 2007. The flu is all but gone in most places. The number of cases has dropped off significantly to levels not seen since it first started. This flu peaked in early January and has been dropping off ever since.

I agree.
This comes from an msn affiliate site and hasn't been 'news' for over 5 years. No record of being rereleased (you can check what stories came out over the last few days) My guess is someone was looking for some media to support a bit of 'paranoia' as you put it. Forgot to check the date. |

That really is weak Kilt!!!
Anyone who presents any kind of dissenting option is characterized as being a troll. In my case I got much worse and was berated with obscenities by you. The one provocation I gave was an early reference to your frequent one sided posts as being tin hat material which I will apologize for. Other than that I gave back what I got. I am not the only one on this forum that is suggesting that there might be a counterpoint to your point. Those views, whether you like them or not, are just as valid as yours! |

That is a huge overestimation of your importance.
I thought I was here to gain some insight and engage in debate. If I have to be bombarded with your abuse then it probably isn't worth it for for me. And it likely won't be for others that are wanting a more balanced point of view. So.... If you only want to surround yourself with folks that agree and swear and name call those that don't, you can likely call this a victory. What about all the other members and contributors here? Are you ok with this???? |

No. Don't leave us Saskabush!
Kilt, You are posting useful stuff and I for one appreciate that. The date mistake with the masks could have happened to anyone. I would much rather have all your posts than none. However, please do not drive Saskabush off of the site, he is appreciated too. He played the big man and apologised for the tin hat comment, which was less offensive than some of your comments. Could you not manage a little bit in return. I don't want to lose either of you! |

The only thing I have seen you do here is get on my case and bug me. You have revealed yourself by your attitude and words. |

Hello folks.
Sorry I have been off line for a while, I had the flu, swine that is. Despite the suggestions by some of my friends that it was an appropriate type of flu for me to catch, I have apparently survived it so the rather weak inocculation must have done some good. To get to the point, a lot of discussion has gone on, about masks and whether or not the 2007 regurgitated suggestion that they should be worn is relevant or not as the epidemic appears to be declining. Here is a little information that some of you may or may not know, but is relevant. Very few viruses survive contact with citric acid. This can be bought in crystal form from most supermarkets or chemists (drugstores or pharmacists). If a face mask is soaked in a solution of said acid, disolved in water and allowed to dry out before being worn, very, very few viral particles have any chance of surviving contact with it. This can also be done to a sheet of absorbent material placed over a gasmask (such as goes with an NBC suit) giving far more protection from militarily produced biological agents than the normal activated charcoal and ceramic filters give. Personally, I think we have more to worry about from the reemergence of a pseudosoviet mentality amongst the Russian oligarchs and remnants of the old KGB, that maintain positions of power, than we have from viruses at present. Example: look at the Ukraine. By the way, anyone noticed bumblebees, solitary bees, black bees and masonry bees are dying out from the same diseases as those which affect the honeybee. Some moths appear to be showing signs of wing deformity and as these fertilise some flowers also this could prove a problem, as is the loss of bats from the fungal disease that is slaying them. These are also hardworking fertilisers of plants. That leaves us thinking strongly about humming birds and paintbrushes to keep our fruit trees in production. I hope that has wound a few of you up. All the best. |

Saskabush,
I have enjoyed your thoughtful, reasoned discussion on other threads and would hate to see you leave.
