This is a question for everyone, particularly FluMom and other regular contributors.

In the past there has been lots of talk about working with our neighbours to survive a pandemic / breakdown of society etc, with talk of getting in supplies to share, working as a group, building a new community, being a good neighbour because no man is an island, as we all know.

But, my question is, with Ebola being so contagious in close quarters, and with such a long incubation period, are any of you still considering being a good neighbour or are you all thinking in terms of isolating you and your family and riding it out alone?

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

That is a good question KiwiMum. I am pretty sure most people would do what they could as long as it doesn't jeopardize the health of their own family. Not sure how much help any of us would be if we have to stay away from each other.
Most of my neighbors are snow birds and most folks don't know each other or don't want to know each other or are renters, so they come and go(we are in SW Florida if you were wondering)...so it would be tricky especially here.
When we lived in Ohio in the country we all knew each other and EVERYONE was prepared...mainly for long, snowy winters and we could get snowed in from those lake effect snow storms.
I'd love to hear from others, how they think we could help each other.
