Man tested for Ebola in MontrealMONTREAL — A man who became sick on a flight from West Africa to Montreal is in isolation at Notre-Dame Hospital pending testing for Ebola. The man, who reportedly began vomiting on the plane from Guinea, was whisked to the hospital at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, where an intensive-care unit to deal with the deadly and highly contagious disease has been set up. The National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg is doing the testing, and results will be available later Monday. Notre-Dame is one of two Montreal hospitals designated to deal with suspected Ebola cases. Children suspected of carrying the disease will be treated at Ste-Justine hospital. Last month, two Montreal patients whose symptoms raised red flags tested negative for Ebola. Marie-France Coutu, a spokesperson for the Quebec health and social services department, said it takes between 12 and 24 hours to get results of the lab tests. http://www.montrealgazette.com/health/tested+Ebola+Montreal/10184764/story.html |

Negative.
www.montrealgazette.com/touch/story.html?id=10181610 I'm very glad to hear of negative test results, and don't get me wrong, but am I the only person here who finds it odd that so many people are exhibiting classic Ebola symptoms, coming from countries where this disease is rampant, and nobody's got it? I know vomiting, etc., are symptoms of many illnesses, but am I out of line to be suspicious here? |

I doubt it! But given how widespread and how long Ebola has been in the communities in the three main countries, the actual number of cases seems low. This is a very slow moving train wreak, and I am constantly surprised by just how slowly it is moving. I would have suspected that it would in a lot more countries by now. The worrying thing for me is they don't seem to know how to stop it, so eventually someone in the West will test positive for Ebola. I think it will come, but just not as fast as we first thought. |

After reading the two posts from Rome and Lopper, I'm not so sure now that those are all negs. If you're to believe the very people evacuating the Ebola patients to the US then the US Gov has been busted in boldface lies. But anyways, the growth of Ebola in the population appears to me to be growing in kind of the same way it is in an individual. At some point very soon the populace will become noticeably symptomatic. And then a rapid deterioration will follow. It is my belief that seasonal flu does the same thing. It incubates quietly for some, unknown or noticed, then seemingly inches into view, then explodes. But it was brewing well before we discovered patient zero.

I'm becoming suspicious as well. I thing the need to keep panic at bay can only last for so long. Not to mention all of the cases that tested negative but were really positive. It's all very disconcerting.

You can have the symptoms of Ebola from drinking the water or eating lunch anywhere in West Africa! I find it comforting that they're not taking chances!
