I have never tried this with the group before, but I seek to build anecdotal evidence sooner than the 90 days needed by CDC to indicate seasonal flu vaccine efficacy or lack of same this year. Can anyone post that they have caught the flu despite vaccination? Or, do you feel that your vaccine helped you to have only a minor case? My hope is we can get some idea of whether the vaccine mismatch this year is giving any cross protection as is hoped. Best to All, John L.

Hubby had the vaccine this year. I did not. We both contracted flu, I fell ill a week before him. We both recovered at around the same time: over three weeks later. We also both needed antibiotics for the resulting opportunistic sinus, trachea, pharynx, larynx and bronchial infections. NASTY!
Hubby is both 16 years older than I and has less flu-resistance genetically (part native american) so the week difference in recovery time is probably under-illustrated by our tale. This is hardly a large experimental sample, but it does back up the "reduced cover" theory. |
