I heard from the Viroblock mask people we can buy direct from Switzerland company.

OK, guys so I see all of these South Koreans wearing surgical masks not even N95 masks so what will protect all of us from MERS.

Surgical Masks?

N95 Masks?

New Viroblock Masks?

Any of you experts know the answer to this one?

Surgical masks are pretty much useless in protecting you in situations like this. They have one use - to stop you infecting others.
This is a tough one as we've seen this come up before on AFT, and everyone has their own preference. While it's true that N95s don't offer complete protection, they are relatively cheap and that means you can get them in bulk and be able to switch them out regularly. N100 masks would be better, but they are more expensive. Not familiar enough with the virablock masks to offer an opinion on them, I'm afraid.
As always, fit is key. A mask with gaps is practically useless. And for the guys with facial hair - masks don't work with beards.

Thanks jacksdad!   Vitroblock is a mask that kills virus when you breath through the mask. They are selling over seas I think for all the viruses that are going around take a look they are on the net.

Ok, guys so I am going to buy some of these masks. I have asked the most important question of the company, which is how long will these masks retain their viral killing ability.

Based on their answer I will start a purchase program so that I have viable masks available if and when I need them.

Guys the viroblaock mask is the mask along with good goggles I am going to purchase Mask is:
Uvex S3400X Flex Seal Safety Goggles, Navy Body, Clear Uvextreme Anti-Fog Lens, Neoprene Headband. This is what I believe they are using at the Ebola hospitals in Africa. At least these are the best I can find and they are not expensive less than 15.00. Anyone have a better suggestion?

Below is the Viroblock mask info please knock holes in this mask if you don't think it is worth 3.00 a mask (one time use).

Viroblock’s Respirator Mask offers a new dimension in respiratory protection.

- Anti-Viral: Traps and kills more than 99.9995% of influenza H1N1 on pass through air
- Anti-bacterial: Traps an kills both gram + and gram - bacteria
- Easybreathe: More breathable, more comfortable
- Dual-action: Protects the wearer and the environment

Unlike other respirator masks, that can allow infective virus to pass through the filtration layers, Viroblock’s mask, traps and kills pathogenic enveloped viruses as they attempt to pass through the mask. The Viroblock mask reduces over 10,000x the level of infective virus in the air.

Viroblock masks are CE marked to the personal protective equipment EN149:2001+A1 2009 FFP2 and meet all requirements of the EN14683 Surgical Mask standard.

The masks are made in Europe and are available in packs of 25 individual masks.

The anti-bacterial performance of the Viroblock Respirator Mask has been tested according to ISO 20743 / JIS L 1902*. Results show the Viroblock Respirator Mask kills >99.9995% of Klebsiella pneumoniae and 99.995% of Staphylococcus aureus on the outer surface.

Viroblock Respirator Masks are classified as “non-irritant” in dermal testing **
