"Avoid ALL Contact" With Rain, American Embassy In Beijing Warns

Tyler Durdens picture
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/17/2015 17:40 -0400

First in "China Sends In Chemical Warfare Troops, Orders Tianjin Blast Site Evacuation After Toxic Sodium Cyanide Found" and subsequently in "Poison Rain Feared In Tianjin As Death Toll Rumored At 1,400", we documented China’s frantic attempts to reassure an increasingly agitated and frightened public that the air and water are safe after last Wednesday’s deadly chemical explosion at Tianjin.

Although the full environmental implications of the blast likely won’t be known for quite some time, the immediate concern is that rain could react with water soluble sodium cyanide, transforming the chemical into potentially fatal hydrogen cyanide gas.

And while Beijing has already begun the censorship (some 400 Weibo and WeChat accounts have reportedly been shut down), the American Embassy isn’t mincing words.

The following unconfirmed text message is said to have originated at the Embassy:

For your information and consideration for action. First rain expected today or tonight. Avoid ALL contact with skin. If on clothing, remove and wash as soon as possible, and also shower yourself.Avoid pets coming into contact with rains, or wet ground, and wash them immediately if they do. Rise umbrellas thoroughly in your bath or shower once inside, following contact with rain. Exercise caution for any rains until all fires in Tianjin are extinguished and for the period 10 days following. These steps are for you to be as safe as possible, since we are not completely sure what might be in the air. Remember the brave firefighters and their families along with all those suffering from the accident in Tianjin. Stand strong together China!

Hi Kay, good info.  Seems like China is doing their cover-up routine once again.  I believe Sodium Cyanide is also used in chemical warfare, and of course the explosion included 700 tons exploding.  Wouldn't doubt it if the Chinese didn't start dropping like flies for quite awhile, especially once it hits their drinking water.  Let's also hope the wind doesn't carry it too far.

According to this translation, 1,400 dead, 700 missing, and many bodies uncounted.  Seems to me the count could be in the thousands.  This translation also indicates 49 from the U.S. may have been killed.

Translation:

"Overseas UBM club on the 15th quoted senior sources said the armed police, armed police fire, and the first line from the field hospital to give figures, as of 15 noon, confirmed that due to the big bang has reached more than 1,400 people dead, more than 700 people missing.

The source refers to, this figure does not include digital field Chemical Corps with dead bodies, as well as off-site hospital died received death toll.

Firefighters became cannon fodder

China "Beijing Times" quoted an authoritative source, Tianjin Port supernumerary firefighters have lost at least 49 in the United states. Union currently able to confirm the number of loss: the First Battalion 3, fourth brigade of 24 people, the fifth brigade of 24 people

Chinese censors have blocked 50 websites for “spreading rumors” about the Tianjin explosions

China’s internet watchdog has doled out punishments to 50 websites it says were “spreading rumors” about the massive chemical explosions that rocked the city of Tianjin last week.

The Cyberspace Administration of China—the main arbiter of internet discourse, with the unfortunate acronym CAC—announced (link in Chinese) that 18 news sites would be “shut down indefinitely” while another 32 would be suspended temporarily.

In its announcement, CAC mentioned several “rumors” these sites are meant to have spread.

Most prominent was mention that the explosions had killed over 1,000 people. While just over 100 have been confirmed dead thus far, the expectation is that hundreds more will be added to the tragic list. Boxun—a US-based site that posts sometimes-reliable leaked information out of China—has police reports putting the death toll at over 1,400, though for now this should just be considered the high-end estimate.

Other rumors cited by CAC were that “there were no survivors within one kilometer of the blast,” that the leadership in Tianjin would be changed as a result, and that shopping malls had been looted following the explosions. Ironically, officials seem willing to allow stories about the government competently catching looters, but not about widespread looting.

The official announcement said websites reporting such “rumors” had “incited panic” among internet users.

Chinese censors did succeed in debunking a gruesome photo that had spread across the Chinese internet, showing dozens of dead bodies, purportedly the result of the Tianjin explosions. As noted by TechInAsia, the photo was actually a modified version of an AirTel advertisement.

One site that CAC has shut down completely is Guangzhou-based Chefu Net. This is what that site looked like on Aug. 10, according to a version saved by the Internet Archive:

Tianjin Explosion: at least 1400 killed, over 700 missing

(Bowen Exclusive) According to information from the top levels of the People’s Armed Police, firefighters on the scene and frontline hospitals confirm that as of Saturday August 15, 2015 more than 1,400 are dead and 700 are missing. The source pointed out that this statistic doesn’t include the corpses collected by the anti-chemical teams, and the total death figure is far from that reported by local hospitals. The anti-chemical teams’ disposal of bodies evades the oversight of both firefighters and the local police.

Due to the large number of people missing, officials are only reporting casualty figures from firefighters and hospitals (total deaths 50). This has sparked outrage on the part of many families with members missing. Yesterday due to the extreme dissatisfaction of family members, the Tianjin municipal government’s fourth press conference was suspended.

I feel sorry for the victims.  I wonder if we need to worry about merchandise
coming from China for a long time period?   The dust settling on the merchandise
then shipped here to be opened.  China has never been concerned with safety.

I read that the toxic levels are 28 x higher than acceptable. According to China, all is fine.  Of course it's now in their drinking water as well.   If their hair and teeth start falling out soon, I'm sure China will say it's a natural occurrence.  Confused    Wouldn't buy any food products from China for awhile.  Drinking water to feed their crops and livestock.  They're about to make the whole world sick.   I would feel better if there was independent testing done outside the Chinese gov't.

In inorganic cyanides, such as sodium cyanide, NaCN, this group is present as the negatively charged polyatomic cyanide ion (CN); these compounds, which are regarded as salts of hydrocyanic acid, are highly toxic. The cyanide ion is isoelectronic with carbon monoxide and with molecular nitrogen.[2][3] Most cyanides are highly toxic.[4]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanide

Chemical reference numbers (CAS) of common forms: Cyanide 57-12-5, Zinc Cyanide 557-21-1, Sodium Cyanide 143-33-9, Potassium Cyanide 151-50-8, Hydrogen Cyanide 74-90-8

Cyanide is very poisonous. Cyanide can exist as a gas, liquid or white crystal powder. Cyanide is used in the electroplating industry, in metal cleaning operations, and as an industrial bug killer. Breathing the gas, eating the liquid or solid forms can make people suddenly lose consciousness or cause death.

There are no common uses of cyanide in the home. Most cyanide in the environment results from industrial processes and from improper waste disposal.
