With international markets crashing http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-08-23/global-trade-freefall-container-freight-rates-asia-europe-crash-60-three-weeks , http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-08-23/are-stock-markets-setting-new-black-monday, relations between nations under stress https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMuGdNHkMBE failure peacetalks India-Pakistan, http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/northkorea/2015/08/24/8/0401000000AEN20150824001652315F.html and an international refugee crisis http://www.arcrelief.org/site/PageServer?pagename=learn_globalrefugeecrisis politicians finaly have to come with solutions.
Climate change http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/typhoon-goni-taiwan-japan-korea-philippines/51880833, earthquakes http://dutchsinse.com/8232015-nepal-hit-by-new-earthquake-three-day-warning-issued-prior-to-event-forecast-area-direct-hit/ makes the situation even worse. To get some oversight of "lines coming together" I made this sort of news diary. In Dutch we have a saying "An accident never comes alone", meaning that when things go wrong often lots of things go wrong. Germany expects 800.000 refugees this year, yesterday Italy picked-up 4400 refugees in one day from the Mediterranean Sea. In the Balkan army is put into action to stop refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc trying to get to western Europe.

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/aug/23/pentagon-confirms-explosion-us-military-base-japan "On the internet there is speculation that explosians in Japan (US depot and metal factury http://www.rt.com/news/313176-tokyo-factory-blaze-airport/) might be linked to the situation in Korea".
Stocks in Europe have opened with a loss of 3-4%. There seems to be some panic. In my opinion China is not the only reason for economic "stress". The ongoing euro-crisis, the "weak-recovery" in the US, sinking oil-prizes, economic problems in Russia, Brazil, possible wars, all contribute. I did read a comment that today 4% of Australia's GDP-worth of stocks value vanished, also large losses in the Middle East (their economy is energy-based).

Dutch Josh - This is definitely a day I feel I should have stayed in bed. What is happening in the U.S. stock market is only the tip of the iceberg globally. We have become a global dependent economy and we are at a point of "Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee." This is a time when we need powerful and directed leadership from our executive branch and congress to finally address the problem.

Medclinician, this day was sure to come one day. As a European I see politicians not solving problems but buying time (and in that way making things much worse). Economy can not grow on debts. I did read an article about "pseudo-growth", economy is growing because companies are dumping their articles and stopping (parts of their) works. Low prices on the short term for consumers are good, but when there is no profit in those low prices it is the end of the bussiness !
Warmth is energy, global warming can give oppertunities. An economic collapse can give innovations, start doing things more clever. The last years for most of the people their incomes decreased, only a very small group got very rich. On that basis you can not expect any economy to grow. It is time for better choices, but those choises will be made by the average man, not by the "political class" that caused thes problems !
