Less than two months after his release, Dr. Crozier had intense pain, high ocular pressure, and reduced sight in his left eye. Test results showed that the inside of his eye was "teeming" with Ebola. Doctors were amazed that the virus was found inside the eyed. comment. How unusual. And it somehow was nowhere else in his body. Medclinician |

Saw this awhile back. The disease is not dead. That's a problem. How many others still carry it after exposure? Is this how it stays dormant in Africa until conditions are right for an outbreak? There are so many viruses that can hide like this. Is there a potential for these viruses to survive in other climates? Scary stuff really.

The medical community has been discussing this for quite a while. The eye is very vascularized, and once a bug like Ebola gets into the vitreous humor (from leaking blood vessels of the retina etc.), it stays there.
