The Ukrainian intelligence Unit has declared that 300 people were killed by H1N1 flu at Donetsk and Luhansk regions where pro-Russian separatists declared independence as "people's republics" after the referendums, which were not recognized by Kiev or the West.
The statement, issued on the website of the Defense Ministry, criticized what it called the 'so-called administrators' for not protecting the residents from diseases by providing efficient health services.
Ukrainian officialy previously introduced a number of urgent measures to head off an outbreak of swine flu in the country, such as temporarily closing schools and banning some public gatherings, particularly in Kiev.
More than 200 people died from the virus in Ukraine during a global outbreak in 2009.

Amid the so-called "ceasefire" in Ukraine, yet ongoing shelling in many regions, the Donbass news agency reports that more than 20 Ukrainian solders have died and over 200 soldiers are hospitalized after an apparent leak of a deadly virus called "California Flu" from a US lab near the city of Kharkov. As Donbass News International reports, More than 20 Ukrainian soldiers have died and over 200 soldiers are hospitalized in a short period of time because of new and deadly virus, which is immune to all medicines. Donetsk People's Republic intelligence has reported that Californian Flu is leaked from the same place where research of this virus has been carried out. The laboratory is located near the city of Kharkov and its base for US military experts.

A flu epidemic is sweeping through the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk -- and the conflict smoldering nearby is making the situation even worse. Doctors are unable to identify the exact strain of the virus, because the laboratory they need is across the front lines in separatist-controlled Donetsk.

Both Russia, Ukraine and the region have H1N1-flu problems. Military put together in difficult circumstances can be a way to spread the flu fast. If there is also not a good research dept. due to war-like situation, stories of "bio-weapons" are easy in propaganda-war.

Wonder where they got the name California flu. Maybe they think the swine flu started in Cal.
Interesting stuff.

Albert asked: "Wonder where they got the name California flu. Maybe they think the swine flu started in Cal. " Influenza A Virus [209] •A (H1N1)pdm09 [74]: All 74 (100%) influenza A (H1N1)pdm09 viruses were antigenically characterized as A/California/7/2009-like, the influenza A (H1N1) component of the 2015-2016 Northern Hemisphere vaccine. •A (H3N2) [135]: All 135 H3N2 viruses were genetically sequenced and all viruses belonged to genetic groups for which a majority of viruses antigenically characterized were similar to the cell-propagated A/Switzerland/9715293/2013, the influenza A (H3N2) reference virus representing the 2015-2016 Northern Hemisphere vaccine component. ◦A subset of 80 H3N2 viruses also were antigenically characterized; 79 of 80 (98.8%) H3N2 viruses were A/Switzerland/9715293/2013-like by HI testing or neutralization testing. http://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/

I'm aware of that, thanks. Anything to avoid its true origin of Mexico and potentially calling it the Mexican Flu. Wasn't sure the Ukraine was that flu savvy to know that.

H1N1 Swine Flu: a new pandemic on the way?
An outbreak of swine flu in eastern Europe is claiming lives and causing a stir in the media.
A major H1N1 outbreak sparked a World Health Organization pandemic alert in June 2009, after the virus emerged from Mexico and the United States.
The outbreak killed around 18,500 people in 214 countries. The alert was lifted in August 2010. Since then bird flu has become a pressing preoccupation, but swine flu has the potential to be a global killer. So should we be worried?
Armenia has reported 18 deaths, with neighbouring Georgia
three, but both countries say the victims had complications and sought
treatment far too late, and there is no question of an epidemic.
In Russia at least 17 people have died and hundreds have been hospitalised, and Ukraine says there have been 50 deaths there, with the flu virus especially rampant in the Russian-occupied east of the country.
Iran says the virus is also claiming lives there in the country’s
first ever large outbreak of the H1N1 strain. At least 112 people have
died, concentrated in the south-east of the country.
The health authorities in India have embarked on a big public
awareness campaign following a second death from the disease. Swine flu
is of special concern in India, with its dense urban populations and
poor sanitation.
Of course seasonal influenza occurs every year and the viruses
change each year, and many people have some immunity to the circulating
virus that helps limit infections. Some countries also use seasonal
influenza vaccines to reduce illness and deaths.
By contrast, the H1N1 was a new virus when it emerged and most
people had no or little immunity to it, giving it pandemic potential.
One of the lessons from history is that influenza pandemics can kill
millions, and there was no pandemic influenza vaccine at the outset.
Now H1N1 treatments have been developed but their effectiveness
has been questioned, hence the media panic at any sign that it may be
making a comeback. If you think you may be at risk, or want to know more
about the disease, the World Health Organisation has prepared a factsheet.

H1N1 was responsible for the "Spanish Flu" in 1918. Spread by the effects of World War 1 (maybe also as a bio-weapon) and the virus had a co-infection with the streptococcus pneumoniae-bacteria. The situation in Ukraine could make such a combination possible again. Also in 2010 (?) Ukraine reported an extreme flu-outbreak.
To study bacterial co-infection following 1918 H1N1 influenza virus infection, mice were inoculated with the 1918 influenza virus, followed by Streptococcus pneumoniae (SP) 72 h later. Co-infected mice exhibited markedly more severe disease, shortened survival time and more severe lung pathology, including widespread thrombi. Transcriptional profiling revealed activation of coagulation only in co-infected mice, consistent with the extensive thrombogenesis observed. Immunohistochemistry showed extensive expression of tissue factor (F3) and prominent deposition of neutrophil elastase on endothelial and epithelial cells in co-infected mice. Lung sections of SP-positive 1918 autopsy cases showed extensive thrombi and prominent staining for F3 in alveolar macrophages, monocytes, neutrophils, endothelial and epithelial cells, in contrast to co-infection-positive 2009 pandemic H1N1 autopsy cases. This study reveals that a distinctive feature of 1918 influenza virus and SP co-infection in mice and humans is extensive expression of tissue factor and activation of the extrinsic coagulation pathway leading to widespread pulmonary thrombosis.

Swine flu OUTBREAK: 72 more deaths as killer disease continues its spread across Europe AN OUTBREAK of swine flu has killed 72 more people and is putting thousands more lives in danger as the deadly virus continues to spread across eastern Europe. Up to 40,000 people are expected to contract the disease in the Ukaine capital Kiev, where residents are covering their faces with masks or scarves. Schools have been closed for more than a week and some public gatherings have been banned as authorities struggle to head off the outbreak. The Ukrainian health ministry has confirmed 72 swine flu deaths, of which 47 were in the past week. The number of fatalities in areas of the Donetsk region held by pro-Russian rebels could be as high as 300, according to the intelligence service. The nasty virus has spread to many former Soviet countries, reaching epidemic levels in St Petersburg, Russia, where at least 30 people have died. At least 18 people have also died in Armenia. The respiratory disease, caused by a strain of the influenza type A virus known as H1N1, can be spread from person to person through coughing and sneezing. Health authorities have insisted there is no need for panic, despite the virus reaching epidemic levels in parts of Ukraine and Russia, including the eastern Donetsk region, where fighting continues against Russian-backed insurgents. Ukrainian health minister Alexander Kvitashvili said: "There is no reason for panic. "Ukraine is in the same situation as its neighbours in Central and Eastern Europe." Hospitals are struggling to deal with the outbreak with a shortage of medicine as the fighting continues. Many doctors have said the ongoing conflict is affecting deliveries of anti-virus medicine. Swine flu swept across the globe in 2009, killing at estimated 200,000 people. The disease is known to cause severe illness in younger adults - including pregnant women - and death in the elderly. http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/638094/Swine-flu-outbreak-Europe-Ukraine-Russia

It's almost an identical reply of 2009 - 2010 rumor. I noticed that yesterday as well.
