Brazil reports explosion of dengue, a bad omen for spread of Zika virus
RIO DE JANEIRO — Brazil on Friday reported a nearly 50 percent jump in cases of dengue fever reported over a three-week period in January, a worrying finding because the disease is carried by the same mosquito that spreads the Zika virus.

Considering that chikungunya (which has spread explosively across the Globe recently),  Zika and Dengue are all spread by the same mosquitoes, this is not exactly good news.

Considering you will a get a positive on a test for Zika from Dengue it may mean that it was not Zika in the first place that caused the outbreak.

There have been warnings about the spread of mosquito-borne diseases if climate change predictions turned out to be correct. If Dengue is on the increase, could that indicate that we're looking at just such a scenario beginning to unfold with Zika? Could it simply be a virus that's been waiting for the right conditions for it to spread, and increasing the range of it's vectors was the missing piece of the puzzle? We now have mosquitoes in SoCal that were almost unheard of a few years ago (Asian Tiger), and they're spreading across the States.
We traditionally don't invest heavily in diseases of the third world, and that might come back and bite us on the butt if they start to become first world problems.

Zika virus

While the Aedes mosquito was originally thought to be solely responsible for the spread of the Zika virus, scientists are now looking into whether the Culex mosquito which typically feeds on birds instead of humans, seeking their blood meals at dawn and dusk could also be to blame for the increased number of infections. The Culex mosquito is up to 20 times more prevalent in Brazil than the Aedes sub-species, which could help explain the intensity of the outbreak there. Although researchers, like Constanica Ayres from the Fiocruz Institute in Recife, say if the Culex is found to be a carrier of Zika, containing the virus' spread could be "more difficult than previously thought."

The original Zika report:

Zika 7 Aug 1964

Histopathology: Characteristic of the Lesions: In mice, cellular degeneration in CNS, myocarditis and skeletal myositis.'
(Catalogue of Arthropod Borne Viruses of the World)

The Flavivirus link to Zika-induced myositis:

Bao S, King NJ, Dos Remedios CG (1992), Flavivirus Induces MHC Antigen on Human Myoblasts: A Model of Autoimmune Myositis?, Muscle Nerve 15:1271-77.

The Guillan-Barr/Epstein-Barre is for lymphocryptovirus 150kDa capsid protein 1, which links to 150kDa RabGAP subunit in Warburg and Martsolf syndromes for microcephaly.
