We've got small clusters in China, but I still don't see sustained spread, Kilt. It's definitely the one I'm watching more closely than anything else, but I'm not getting ready to lock the doors just yet. It's moving closer to an efficiently H2H virus, but it's still not quite there.

I hate to say it because me and mine may die but there are WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE on earth! Something has to take a bunch of us out the earth can't keep all of us alive just a fact.

Any of you people have a guess on how long we will have before it spreads to get last minute preps?

FluMom have you ever been to Texas?   Or the American South West?   We have plenty room on this planet for a lot more of us.... as long as we use our resources wisely.

On average with flu an outbreak goes for about 6-8 weeks.  Spanish flu took around 6 weeks to circle the globe.    So if you are not in an area first effected  you may have 1-2 months warning BUT and this is a big but.... that is not your deadline.   You have to prep before the panic sets in.    I figure once there is evidence of a flu pandemic EVERYONE will know within a week.   Then panic.      So realistically you may only have a few days warning, and that is IF you are watching the news.

For me there are two triggers.    Number one the first instance of an exported case spreading it to someone else.  (I don't think we have evidence of this yet).   If you see this prep like crazy.   Trigger number two, Some one in your part of the world catches it from an unknown contact.   Once that happens just assume flu is everywhere and it is either time to bug out or shelter in place.

I live in Colorado and yes we have wide open spaces but you can't grow things in the mountains and you can't grow in the desert. When I was in Paris and looked out from Montmartre in front of the church I was scared to see miles and miles of buildings so close together. Look at New York, LA, SF at least Denver has lots of parks and empty spaces but many cities around the world are just packed people one on top of the other.

No it is time for mother nature to take lots of us out and it will happen. I just pray I am ready and can keep my son and I alive.

From what I recall...   it only took around 6 weeks to do most of its damage.    Maybe it took 6 months to all the nooks and crannies of the world.   It is really one of the great mysteries of the Spanish flu...   it traveled the world MUCH faster that what should have been possible with transportation of the day.

It took 18 months to circle the globe in three waves, although the deadliest second wave lasted about three months.
Just because we don't live packed like sardines doesn't mean we're not stressing the environment's ability to feed, clothe and house us. Huge tracts of land are turned over to providing us with necessities, and much of the world still goes to bed hungry. I agree with FluMom - seven billlion is too many.
