https://www.rt.com/news/351266-nice-truck-attacker-facts/
The 31 year old attacker was divorced, born in northern Tunesia, father of 3 children. As far as is known he was not very religious. Did not have a lot of contacts. According to some reports the weapons found in the truck were fake. Debka has the story that the windows were bulletproof. http://www.debka.com/article/25551/Nice-terror-truck-had-bullet-resistant-windshield. Some questions: The driver had his ID-card, bank card etc with him. Was this a suicide-revenge attack ? (Like some air-crashes, bus crashes may have been the act of a depressed person in control of the plane or bus). Why was it possible that this (rented a few days ago near Nice) lorry could go 2 kilometres into a large crowd ? France still had the state of emergency, police and army with heavy weapons in major places. The 14th of july was a possible day for a terrorist attack. Even a "lone wolve" single attacker should have been stopped before doing that much damage-what went wrong ? http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-07-15/dramatic-footage-shows-moment-police-killed-nice-terrorist The police did not appear ready to deal with the situation, was the access road not even blocked ? If IS claims that this man-Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel-had any relation with them (because that would show the strenght of IS) is there any proof ? One possible scenario is that a desperate man with mental problems, in a divorce, went crazy and did this horrible act.

A few years ago, I was introduced to INSPIRE magazine by a federal agent, and remember the article about this tactic:

CRS,DrPH, (for me) the link does not work (yet). It could be that the 31 year old man was "inspired" by IS. Eventhough neighbours claim he was not a very active muslim, not doing the ramadan etc.
Claiming that IS was behind this terror act makes IS "stronger". If there is no evidence one should not want to make that "group" stronger.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2ccV6eAc08 On April 30 2009 someone drove into the crowd in Apeldoorn Holland during queensday-celebrations. Seven people were killed. The driver may have had mental problems and frustrations about the ruling royal family.
History is full of ways in wich people (try to) kill eachother. "Inspire" could be an instrument for "online-radicalizing" and could push some people to commit acts of terror. In my opinion the claim by IS of any involvement in the Nice-France massmurder is not very convincing. In France there is now a "blame-game" for the lack of security between local and national authorities. Claiming this attack as an IS-action may be a welcome excuse for both governments for their incompetence. That truck should not have been able to get on that road-the Boulevard had to be blocked-local polica did fail. Of course that Tunisian/French 31 year old man is the one that drove the lorry into the crowd. Frech interior minister is now claiming that this man "radicalized very fast in a short period". I do not buy that, it makes more sense that this man was driven by dispair, in a divorce, financial problems, mental issues. French authorities looking for an excuse for their faillures going allong with the IS-claim is making IS stronger. You can not blame every (large scale) incident (with a person with Arab or Islam background) on IS.

The Nice-attacker/terrorist is said to be a pork eating man with having relations with both women and man (up to 73). Supposed to be radicalized in a few weeks under the influence of an Algerian with IS-links. But the story still does not convince me.
Also the 17 year old Afghan shot dead by German police after attacking train passengers in Wurzburg is "vague". Still it is difficult to rule out the possibility someone is pushing persons to do terror acts. Debka comes with this: The Nice attacker sent his family $110,000 before murder rampage
DEBKAfile July 16, 2016, 10:33 PM (IDT) Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, who worked as a delivery man, was nonetheless able to transfer to his family in Tunisia by messenger the sum of $110,000 just days before he used a truck to murder Bastille Day celebrants in Nice, Western intelligence sources reveal. ISIS claimed Saturday that Bouhlel was one of its ‘soldiers.” He now appears to have been generously paid for his service to the jihadist group. |
