After on Monday the 17 year old Afghanistan (or Pakistan) man in Wurzburg attacking passengers in a train and there after shot dead by police this is the second attack, more serious-in Bayern/Bavaria-Germany in a week. 

Story is developing.

carbon20, both I guess. This latest act of spreading fear by attacking a larger group of people (to give a defenition of "terror") was the act of an 18 year old man with a handgun. Killing 9 people and then himself. 

The Nice-France attack (in the night of July 14/15 a week ago) is now seen as-at least in some ways-being prepared by a larger group according French Justice. If that larger group did know what the 31 year old man from Tunisian background was planning you can descripe that as a terrorist cel. Wether the IS-claim has any ground is another questionmark. 

The 17 y/o man who attacked trainpassengers in Wurzburg Germany, wounding 4-proberbly had Pakistan background (not Afghan-justice did search the place this man lived). 

Of course these acts of terror will give support to the groups that have problems with refugees and/or Islam. In coming elections types like Trump, Le Pen and parties like "Alternative for Germany" will score on terror. On the other side of the story the 3th Reich was not very succesfull, most people are aware of that.

The way media and politicians deal with these stories can be part of the problem. You can claim that climate change and North Korea are created by IS-but then you give a lot of power in the hands of an organization and you have to ask yourself why you are doing that. 

If there would be more discussion on why people come to the EU/US, poverty and war, climate-problems etc maybe something like a possible sollution could emerge ? Hate never provided answers that work !

Unfortunately, we don't do that, Josh. We're humans. Huge brains, but as a species we're dumb as a bag of hammers.

Starting to look like a lone gunman with no political/religious affiliations. Investigators are saying he hacked a girl's Facebook account and lured people to the McDonalds where the shooting took place with the promise of free food. It happened on the fifth anniversary of the killing spree in Norway, where Anders Behring Breivik also lured people to him under the pretense of protecting them.

Tragic loss of so many young lives.

More lives lost in seperate, smaller incidents this weekend in Germany:



and several other incidents now making the headlines involving refugees from Syria, Iran etc. 

This will further escalate (neo-nazi etc.) reactions. The Merkel government will have elections in 2017, Merkel is not that much unification in Germany any longer. 

Maybe a positive note is the fast changes in the middle east, maybe some sort of peace/stabilization in Syria before the end of the year ? Turkey and Saudi Arabia seem to be willing to talk with Russia. Russia is in Syria out of self-interest and could drop Assad when that serves their goal (=more influence in the World/middle east/ western Asia). 

Climate change was one of the many reasons for the war(s) in the Middle East-solving the problems will be more than rebuilding destroyed infra-structure. Due to the costs such an effort will have to be paid by a lot of countries. (Which will have to include the US and EU but not under their terms.)

An Imam has caused uproar in the Netherlands after saying he was willing to die for his religion and to kill others.

Turkish Imam Halil Celik told a journalist on Twitter: 'I am prepared to die for my religion, but also prepared to take away lives.'

The message was addressed to Mehmet Cerit, editor-in-chief of the weekly Dutch-Turkish dailies Zaman Vandaag and Zaman Hollanda.

Turkish Imam Halil Celik has caused uproar in the Netherlands after telling a journalist he was prepared to die for his religion and to kill others

The journalist then made the claim public saying: 'It is a shocking and outrageous statement. This Imam gives a bad example and it is people like him who are responsible for radicalising youth.'

Celik works at the Selimiye Mosque in the eastern Dutch town of Dieren. The mosque's board has distanced itself from the statement of its Imam.

It said: 'We do not agree with the statement made, it is unworthy of an Imam. I am sure the Turkish community in Dieren will feel the same.'

Imam Celik will leave the Selimiye Mosque this week and go back to Turkey. 

The mosque's board say his departure has nothing to do with his recent comments but had been planned for a while.

The board added that their Imam's comments had been taken out of context, saying it was part of a dialogue with an opponent.

The threatening statement might be linked to the situation in Turkey, which has seen a coup and subsequent massive crackdown by the Erdogan government who blamed the Fethullah Gulen movement for orchestrating the attempted military takeover.

The Zaman newspapers, which originally supported Erdogan's AKP party, have been accused by the Turkish government of being aligned with the Gulen movement.

The Selimiye Mosque is state-operated by Diyanet, the Turkish Ministry of Religious Affairs, which usually sends Imams abroad to Turkish mosques in foreign countries.

Under President Erdogan, it has taken an increasingly conservative line and clashed on occasions with other Turkish groups and minorities.
