Many of the investigations are through the State of New York and the President can only Pardon federal crimes! Only the Governor of New York can Pardon State charges or convictions in New York! San Quinton is in California so it will more likely be Attica or Sing Sing!

Not only has he not drained the swamp his entire clan is up to their backsides in alligators!

This is a very dangerous time for our country! DJT is a narcissistic and a megalomaniac! Like wild animals when cornered and threatened they tend to lash out and attack! Lets hope there are some strong people under him who will refuse to go along with any craziness!

Thanks for the lesson Arirish,

Our parliament is like the Muppet show as well,

they all need to just @###$$@$ off and get a life,

All the pollies do is cost us money they get into power, undo everything the previous lot did, and it is us the poor mugs have to pay for it,

Then they lose power and the merry-go-round starts all over Madness

carbon - I don't know a thing about your laws! I do know you have what's called the Consolidated Acts but I have no clue what the acts say! In the United States we have a Constitution and in the fifth amendment to our Constitution it states in part that (No Person) "shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself"! Once pardoned, you can't claim the 5th because what you say can't be held against you! however, you can be charged with perjury so you can be compelled to testify! This Presidency is in a self inflicted death spiral and it's only a matter of time!

With the problem with our pollies, I don't know about where you are but we keep sending the same Jack asses back year after year! Albert Einstein said, β€œThe definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.” He also said, If you want different results than what you’re getting, you have to try different approaches. Maybe it's time in this country for a different (new) political party!

bureaucrasy is seen as a pain in the ass, but it is actually an asset. When all the fetters/breaks are removed, the juggernaut of power runs amok and over many people.

All governments treat their people badly, lie to them and cream the system to make themselves richer. Their misuse of the system is only limited by the counterweight of said bureaucrasy and the knowledge that the electorate could give their high-paid job to the other guy. Despite that, it is still the best option we have invented yet.

Getting rid of the current horror by the slow wheels of bureaucrasy really is the best option EVEN THOUGH IT IS STILL BY NO MEANS CERTAIN. Rhe alternatives have been tried historically and all were far worse.

Trump is so much worse than any previous President, I understand your hurry. Shooting the patient may remove the cancer, but surgery is honestly the better option.

The worst thing that can happen in a democracy is apathy! Sometimes we need a Nixon, Trump, Brown or Turnbull to energize the electorate! I'm really not worried about this country! Our founders built in protections to limit the power of and oversight of our three branches of government. I am worried about the damage that can be done in four years!

Sympathies, Arirish! I can glimpse how bad that is.

You are so right about the apathy! The more apathetic the electorate, the greater the "milking" of their pockets gets. Trump sure is galvanic!

I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:

Turnbull is a good guy even though he is the leader of the party I would never vote for,

He is the best of a very bad lot, I admire him for his guts and leadership,

And if he started his own party I would be with him

carbon - Good luck with your new PM! I hate to say it but it sounds like your Government is as feckless as ours! Both parties in this country have let the extreme's take over so moderates of both parties are either afraid to reach across the aisle or no longer exist! Sometimes it takes a third (moderate, peoples party) like the whig party in the U.S. in the 1800's to yank both sides back to the middle! I don't hold out much hope for that here!

The truth of the matter Arirish is that Trumbull wanted some action on Climate change,he was rolled from the leadership on the same matter a few years ago,

Unfortunately there are too many people in government that refuse to see or just don't want to see that we are causing climate change,

The reason for this is obviously because if we stopped all things that cause climate change the world would grind to a halt, and no matter what we do the planet, for our grandchildren will be unlivable,if we stopped all actions then we will all starve to death,

May as well carry on regardless some would say,

I don't know what the answer is,

i say the slate wiper,

to save the planet from the Human, over use of all the stored carbon in the form of fossil fuels.......

I want someone to come up with a better idea than mine for obvious reasons....

But with the population pushing 8 billion and growing exponentially.......

I don't see a way out......

If you think about it, we have become our own slate wiper! The earth is close to a tipping point and we have politicians who believe in "the end is near" and the "Rapture" is coming and don't mind helping it along! Once humans are extinct the pollution will stop and nature over time will come back into balance! I wonder what the dominate species will be for the next go round?

In general I agree with this statement, but was wondering just how long it would take for the pollution to stop in the case of chemicals leaking from storage/factories, or how long radiation will leak from nuclear plants or medical scanning equipment.

It will take thousands, if not millions, of years. Certain toxins like arsenic cannot break down.

Nuclear power plants are highly concentrated poison stockpiles, and the nuclear fuel & wastes on these sites need thousands of years to break down by natural decay. Coupled with likely surface and groundwater contamination, they could poison vast areas. Fukushima in Japan was a great case study, as was Chernobyl.

I'd rather not hope for the extinction of humanity, but for a progressive awakening as to the vast power that can be released by utilizing wastes intelligently. I've designed pig manure digesters in the Philippines that allow isolated swine farms to generate all the electricity they need onsite, we could easily transition to renewables across the globe.

Of course, the oil/gas/coal/nuclear guys don't get anything out of that deal.

Nor the politicians who cut their taxes, give them free reign to treat their workers + the environment as they wish and lick..................
