I know you guys are tired of hearing from me but I am very skeptical of that number.   First of all according to google we have less than 900k hospital beds but they said we had more than 900k hospitalizations. Yes I know not all of them where hospitalized at the same time.   However at the peak we should have seen about 200-300K at the same time. There is no way in hell our hospitals can handle that number. Also at the peak we should have seen 10K deaths per week.    Did we see any evidence of that? Can you imagine the media hysteria that we would have faced if 10-20k people where dying from the flu every week? Or maybe the government has gotten much better at keeping secrets or maybe the media just doesn't care. If you where watching actual reports of flu deaths even at the peak we only have evidence of about 1000 deaths per week.   I don't buy it.

From my personal empirical observations both 15-16 and the swine flu years where worse.

I don't know about the flu season 2017/8, but the year before Jacksdad (I think it was he) told us they were treating some patients in tents and trailers outside.

No one likes to admit it, but not having the capacity does not mean the patients stop coming. Even harder to accept is the fact that a few of the flu deaths may have been exacerbated by a lack of facilites. Inability to cope at peak, expence of overtime for staff and cost of re-opening closed wards all add to the pressure to vaccinate higher numbers.

Just for context if you don't believe me...   According to all the lists I can find it shows this flu outbreak was worse than even every pandemic we have had sans Spanish Flu.   Did this feel like the second worse flu year ever?

An August 27, 2010 MMWR report entitled “Thompson MG et al. Updated Estimates of Mortality Associated with Seasonal Influenza through the 2006-2007 Influenza Season. MMWR 2010; 59(33): 1057-1062.,” provided estimates of the range of flu-associated deaths that occurred in the United States during the three decades prior to 2007. CDC estimated that from the 1976-1977 season to the 2006-2007 flu season, flu-associated deaths ranged from a low of about 3,000 to a high of about 49,000 people.                   https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/disease/us_flu-related_deaths.htm

To prece the whole article: 80% of pediatric deaths were unvaccinated, the average death rate per anum is 34 thousand and the death rate has risen slightly in recent decades.

All figures are estimates.* as there are descrepancies in reporting "cause of death" which usually has more than one cause (co-morbidities). [Technophobe: To give an example, "post influensa pneumonia, dementia and immobility" and even that fails to mention the antibiotics which were un-perscribable due to the frailty of the patient.]

*Albeit probably quite accurate despite that, as the estimates are made by specialist epidemiologists, using sophisticated algorythms and mathematical models.
