On Tuesday, the Socialist Equality Party in the United States announced that it has selected its candidates in the 2024 elections, Joseph Kishore for president and Jerry White for vice president.

The SEP has established a website for its campaign, which is accessible at socialism2024.org.

Kishore, 44, has been a member of the SEP in the United States since 1999. He has served as the party’s national secretary for nearly 16 years, having been first elected at the party’s founding congress in 2008. He ran as the SEP’s candidate for president in 2020.

White, 64, is the labor editor of the World Socialist Web Site. He ran as the SEP’s presidential candidate in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

-------

In accepting the nomination of the SEP as its presidential candidate, Kishore stated,

The two likely candidates of the Democrats and Republicans, President Biden and ex-President Trump, represent two factions of the capitalist corporate-financial oligarchy. They speak for, and act on behalf of, the billionaires, the super-wealthy Wall Street shareholders, the corporate interests, and the military-industrial complex and their program of war, dictatorship, inequality and poverty. As the SEP’s candidates, Jerry and I represent the interests of the working class, the vast majority of the population.

DJ...it would be very welcome if the US could have a more progressive political elite...

https://www.socialism2024.org/ or https://www.socialism2024.org/ ;

The Socialist Equality Party is organizing the working class in the fight for socialism: the reorganization of all of economic life to serve social needs, not private profit. The fight for socialism is at the same time a fight against war, authoritarianism, environmental degradation and all the consequences of capitalist society.

Socialism must be fought for and won by the working class itself. It will be achieved only through a revolutionary movement that has as its aim the establishment of workers' power.

All the great problems confronting mankind are global problems that require global solutions. The fight for socialism, therefore, requires the unity and collaboration of workers in every country on the basis of a common program and perspective.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilization#As_a_contrast_with_other_societies or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilization#As_a_contrast_with_other_societies ;

The idea of civilization implies a progression or development from a previous "uncivilized" state. Traditionally, cultures that defined themselves as "civilized" often did so in contrast to other societies or human groupings viewed as less civilized, calling the latter barbarianssavages, and primitives

Indeed, the modern Western idea of civilization developed as a contrast to the indigenous cultures European settlers encountered during the European colonization of the Americas and Australia.[43]

The term "primitive," though once used in anthropology, has now been largely condemned by anthropologists because of its derogatory connotations and because it implies that the cultures it refers to are relics of a past time that do not change or progress

DJ, I would love to believe the world would be a better place for most of us in 2024 than 1944...But did we learn anything from history ?

-Healthcare needs to be for all at some basic level. A human is not living in total isolation...if the poorest of the poor get ill it can become a risk even for the richest of the rich...

-In a nuclear age war should be something of the past...We need the money very hard in education, care, good housing, eviromental friendly transport...

-Everything for profits only will worsen climate collapse....Blind capitalism and climate collapse is in many ways the same problem...

This planet could be a such better place for so many-if we make other choices...

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

WASHINGTON, March 16. /TASS/. The efforts of unfriendly countries will not interfere with the Russian presidential election in the country and abroad, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said.

"Let me point out that the enemies' efforts cannot disrupt the elections of the President of Russia, which are successfully and actively conducted throughout the country as well as abroad. On March 17, Russian diplomats in Washington, D.C., New York and Houston will not only exercise their constitutional right, but will also ensure by all possible means that Russian citizens can go to the polls in a calm and safe environment and make their fateful choice," the Russian embassy quoted Antonov as saying on its Telegram channel.

Voting in the Russian presidential election is taking place over three days on March 15-17.

Four candidates vie for the top office, namely New People party nominee Vladislav Davankov; self-nominated candidate and incumbent President Vladimir Putin; Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) nominee Leonid Slutsky; and Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) nominee Nikolay Kharitonov.

and https://tass.com/politics/1760217 or https://tass.com/politics/1760217 ;

MOSCOW, March 15. /TASS/. The incumbent Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, who is vying for the country’s top office as an independent candidate, has cast his electronic vote in the presidential election.

DJ, western media/propaganda claim Russia is a fake-democracy...Putin is certain to win...Well Putin may have around 80% of public support...most western leaders at present may not even get 20% public support....

US "elections" between two old men unfit for the job....

Western propaganda on "brutal agression in Ukraine" -"unprovoked because NATO can move even to Vladivostok"....pales compared to the present NATO-proxy "israel" genocide in Gaza...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_and_awe or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_and_awe NATO wars the west wants to forget...killing millions of Muslims...

Western politics is "run by donors" hardly worth the name "democracy"!
