Scientist predicts H5N1 virus will not reach US in 2006 Tuesday May 2, 2006
SINGAPORE (AP) - A top bird flu scientist on Tuesday predicted that the H5N1 virus will not reach the United States this year. Robert G. Webster, of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, said the number of times viruses have reached the Americas from Europe is infrequent, based on past behavior of influenza viruses. "While wildlife people in the United States are watching for the appearance of this virus, I would suspect that it may not come this year,'' he said. If it doesn't come this year, don't relax, because it will eventually come,'' said Webster, who was in Singapore ahead of a two-day conference this week that is expected to draw many of the world's top experts on bird flu. The H5N1 virus has spread to people in isolated cases in several countries, killing 113 people worldwide, mostly after they handled infected poultry, according to the World Health Organisation. Experts fear that the H5N1 virus may mutate into a form easily passed between humans, sparking the world's next deadly pandemic. It matters not if or when it gets to the US
It is in asia and africa where the pandemic strain of human/bird flu will emerge not america

What is the news from Africa? Has anyone died from H5N1? We know the death rate in Asia is going up, just not being reported. Is the same thing going on in Africa or is it they don't have anyway of knowing what is happening?

The news out of Africa is that thousands are dead and dying, but all
cases have been labeled as other illnesses. Go to ProMed and do a
search for Meningitis and see how many countries have been hit since
Bird Flu arrived in Africa last September.
The foolish coverup continues in most of the countries of the "Dark Continent." |

Frightening Warning"Society just can't accept the idea that 50 percent of the population could die. And I think we have to face that possibility," Webster said. "I'm sorry if I'm making people a little frightened, but I feel it's my role." March 14,2006 article
