I have about 8 months maybe a year.  Been prepping for over 30 years.  Lived in the Aleutians for five years and needed to have at least one month on hand since the supply ship came in once a month.  Baked 30 loaves of bread three times a week and sold 85 loaves a week.  Supplimented my former husband's E-5 salary.  Since then my preps kept my three children and me over hard times.  Been over 30 years since I started prepping and have it to a fine art.  When things are cheap at the stores or farmers markets I buy in bulk and freeze or can.  I have the largest garden ever.  I plan to can and dehydrate lots of veggies.

Are you under 18? Live with your parents? I suppose you can casually take a few cans a week out of the closet and hide them somewhere in house where they won't find it and remind mom you need more of "whatever" Go shopping with her and throw in a few extra  items you "really" need. You will have to be like a squirrel.Smile
