Now's the time to get that oil change, fix any problems, check your spare, stock up on transmission fluid, motor oil, gas, anti-freeze, etc..
I really don't have enough testosterone to speak well on this subject. Guys help me out!

Honestly, I wouldnt bother with spare parts, since you cant really stock up on much more than a tank or two of gas.  Who honestly wants to store 500 gallons of gasoline around their home?  ONE mistake and you WILL blow up your house.  I'm not going to do that.

I plan to tune up both of my adult bicycles so that we can ride those if we need to get somewhere.

If we're planning under the premise of long interruptions in everything, then there wont be gas at the stations for you to need spare parts.

I'm not afraid, I'm paranoid. Dont talk too loud, they are listening.

This past weekend I had my wife's car in to catch up on all the routine maintenance, oil, filters, tires etc. - replaced some marker lights that were burned out, and so on.  Next weekend it's my car's turn.  We have 80 gallons of stabilized (treated) gasoline in 5 gallon containers, stored in the back yard, in the shade, under a tarp, well away from the house.

I have about 25 gallons of gas in my shed along with diesel, kerosene and propane.  I also added a double dose of STA-BIL fuel stabilizer which extends the storage life from several months to two years.
It's not so much the apocalypse... but the credit card bills ;-)
