Sierra Leone Ebola virus victim on the runBy Umaru Fofana, Reuters 10:07 am, July 25, 2014
Sierra Leone officials
appealed for help on Friday to trace the first known resident in the
capital with Ebola whose family forcibly removed her from a Freetown
hospital after testing positive for the deadly disease. A Liberian man suspected to have Ebola has died in quarantine in Lagos, Nigeria, a Nigerian official in Geneva said Friday. The man, who collapsed on arrival at the airport in Nigeria's commercial center on Thursday, was being kept in isolation by authorities and had not entered the mega-city of 21 million people, he said. "While he was in quarantine he passed away," the official said. DOZENS UNACCOUNTED FOR |

Nigeria confirms Liberian man died of Ebola in Lagos
Abuja (AFP) - Nigeria said Friday that Ebola caused the death of a Liberian national who died in quarantine in Lagos, confirmation that the worst-ever outbreak of the virus has reached Africa's most populous country. "The patient was subjected to thorough medical tests ... which confirmed the virus of Ebola," as the cause of death, Nigeria's Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu told journalists http://news.yahoo.com/liberian-ebola-symptoms-dies-nigeria-official-132822550.html |

Yeah, I saw that, what a gimmick!! Dirty bombs (i.e. dispersal bombs) are decent if you use radionuclide materials, but they are mostly a "real-estate play," making buildings or facilities uninhabitable/unusable. An RDD (radiation dispersal device) would do the trick to shut down a transport hub like airport, etc. but they are time-limited, eventually you can clean them up. I've never seen a biological dispersal device before, and the problem is that you waste far too much of the infectious material. It would be much more effective to spread it onto surfaces that people touch routinely (use your imagination). Sorry, I know too much about this stuff!!
