I wanted to talk about something that I am absolutely certain of.

I believe that we have a huge problem with sexual transmission cases being unreported.   When you consider the number of other imported mosquito-borne illnesses (and all other imported illnesses to the U.S.), such as Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya, etc... none of them are coming in the U.S. and spreading close to the rate as Zika.     The reason is because travelers are most likely contracting Zika via sexual transmission and they can't or will not disclose that.  How many females will be honest about a sexual encounter they had while on vacation?  How many men's trips will a male be honest about it if they're married or in a relationship?  Who would ever admit a sexual encounter while on a trip? I would say zero?  Would you admit it?   Clearly it's being sexually transmitted at a rapid rate.  For that matter, even cases that didn't travel wouldn't probably admit to it.   I don't blame the CDC for respecting the privacy of these people in this case as they're between a rock and a hard place.  Suffice it to say, Zika is undoubtedly being transmitted at a rapid rate by sexual transmission.  Absolutely no doubt.

Any thoughts?

This is beginning to look the case. At least the rate of infection seems much higher than other mosquito transmitted diseases.

Maybe we will have a new euphemism for sexually transmitted diseases in "I was bitten by a mosquito". Wink

Ya, lol.  The two confirmed cases yesterday on the two women in Nebraska who contracted Zika while traveling.   Yep, both bitten by mosquitoes.   Give me a break on that one.   They need to layoff their drunken flings when traveling is my guess.   Or bring a box condoms.   Like I said, the airlines should pass out free condoms when arriving in Rio.

Anyone get those ladies numbers?   Tongue

If my lady says she wants to go on a girls trip alone without me to Rio, well, that ain't happening.

I'm surprised that one Texas guy admitted to that one sexually transmitted case.  He was definitely single and didn't like or maybe even know the girl.
